As some of you may know, the Obama admin. decided to schedule it's job speech in front of the joint session of Congress at the same time the GOP has it's Presidential debate. What I would like to know, because it's clear the Obama admin. did this on purpose, is whether you will watch the debate or the speech?

I'm a little torn. I want to watch his jobs speech, but I don't really have too much faith that he's going to put forth something we haven't heard about before. While on the other hand, I've always liked the GOP debates, and this one will include Rick Perry.

What are you going to do, OT?

Here's a SOURCE as well.

Edit: Obama caved into Speaker Boehner's demands and has changed the date of the speech so it no longer coincides with the Republican debate but conflicts with the NFL's first game of the reason.

Hmmm... listening to a bunch of quacks debate who don't believe in evolution, or listen to someone promise a better future when he has no control over such. I'm sure I can find better use of my time.

The political scene in the US is becoming really sad and grim. When people stop believing anyone in the political machine and lose faith in it, you know that it hit the bottom.

I think the last one I really liked was the "We killed Osama" one. I mean, he's my President too, I watch and listen to him when he talks, but I have no strong urge to hear about more stimulus.

Everything goes hand in hand with the economy. When the economy does better, people normally feel better about things.

The debate. Speeches tend to be rather inconsequential. Am interested to read about what the jobs bill push will entail, though. Will likely read about it in the coming weeks.

I'll play video games. I know how both will go...

Obama:

"I know times are tough, but if we all come together as Americans we'll get through it blah blah blah"

GOP Debate:

"Herp derp abortion. Herp derp gay marriage. Herp derp Jesus. Herp derp tax decrease for my buddies. Derp derp derp"

When is the Republican debate exactly? Either way I will try and watch both but if it comes down to it I will watch the debate, Obama has had a ton of job speeches and they are all the same, all talk and no substance. He just says "I have a plan to create jobs" but he never says what his plan is, and so far it doesn't look like it's working too well.

I'm not expecting too much from the GOP debate either, there are so many far right quacks in there like Perry and Bachman that I fear they will over shadow the other candidataes, I do hope though that Jon Huntsmen is in there. That guy actually has real experience and his state of Utah is the MOST succsessful state in job growth, also he is willing to put aside partisan BS and work together.

Other than that I'm not really expecting a whole lot from either the debate or Obama, it's a shame that we don't demand better politicians in this country.

Meaning who do I want to win? The candidates I find acceptable are Huntsman, Romney and Paul. Romney is the only one who has a shot in both the primary and the actual election, IMO. Things could change, though.

The real reason I am watching it, however, is to see how Perry holds up. I'm curious to see if his competitors will attack him.

I don't know yet.

If I watch the speech, it will be to see if he finally goes big or if he does the same thing he always does by only proposing what he thinks the republicans won't block.

If I do watch the debate, I'll invite my friends over for a drinking game where we'll take shots every time someone says something about taxes or how Obama has failed.

We have the same candidates in mind CB, Huntsman is the guy I REALLY want to be fhe GOP front man, Romney I think is so-so but he is a little too flip floppy formy tastes, still he is better than some of the other options, and Ron Paul is very honest and while I do think some of his ploicies go a little too far, he is still better than alot of the other candidates out there. Unfortunately he doesn't get much support...

My degree is in Biology. Was looking into grad school but after searching for a job since May I find that it isn't really worth it to get my masters. The majority of employers want 3-5 years of experience and I'm not smart enough for any medical grad schools. If I get my masters I'll just be overqualified for most of the jobs and I'll still lack experience.

Basically, Huntsman can't win the primary. That's the main problem. He also has little name recognition and a small fundraising base. I'd say that four years from now, he would be an ace.

The libertarian in me is partial to Ron Paul in spite of some of his policies that I am very disinclined to support. (i.e.: End the Fed) I don't see him winning the actual election, though.

I'll never watch anything political on TV. it's pretty much pointless to watch overpaid people talk about how they can make the country better without actually doing it. and then at the end, Obama will announce yet another vacation since his 10 day vacation was cut short 1 day. and he'll be taking his secret service bus instead of flying in a plane. he might as well swing from vines in the trees to get there.

Neither. I used to listen to that BS but then I finally realised that when elected, even with the Presidency and large majorities in the House and Senate, they still had no intention of pursuing the agenda that got them there in the first place. Business as usual - more trillions in debt, more promises, more blaming it on the other guys.

As some of you may know, the Obama admin. decided to schedule it's job speech in front of the joint session of Congress at the same time the GOP has it's Presidential debate. What I would like to know, because it's clear the Obama admin. did this on purpose,

airshocker

Actually they had to choose between doing it on Wednesday during the NFL season opener, or doing it on Thursday, during the debate. Or push it back until next week. Something about the House needing more time to prepeare for it....I don't know, I'll probably switch back and forth.
