I like to think I'm smarter for avoiding that area all together. :PI'm originally from North Dakota. I like to think things like this made me stronger.

this weather pattern is actually of much concern to me. Florida is in danger of losing a large portion of it's crops because of freezing and this will have a big impact on the economy. This is a direct result of global warming.
God you guys are lucky. Its like 0 celsius here... And were seposed to be some kind of alpinic/temperate climate.
Tho thats not much, ive been in freaking -23 celsius lol...
... oh wait its -46? ok im impressed =D
Okay....How about the year I served in Alaska, at a remote radar station located 200 NM north of the Arctic Circle?Thats nothing. It was like -30 here in Toronto a few days ago with the wind chill
valgear
Wind chill dipped to -150 F (exposed flesh freezes in less than 5 seconds).
I just wanted to say i think Fahrenheit is dumb.
C all the way baby.
Hey look the internet knows how to calculate F to C.

No he's right, it is -11C to -52F. 32F = 0C. Nope, -52F is definitely -46C. -11C = 12F Oh yeah, you're right, just checked again. :P-52F is -46C, not -11C

Thanks, Lockedge.:P I fixed the OP.
I was looking at the "(F-32)" part of the formula, and I reversed the subtraction due to negative numbers. My bad, corrected.

You can't be serious about the global warming junk. It's colder not warmer. Not to mention the falsified reports about global warming. I think you and all the global warming nuts should be more concerned with the state of the earth's water supply. You do realize there was a point in time when water from streams didn't have to be purified to drink right? I hope you also realize America could stop all pollution and wouldn't effect anything due to other countries like China.

I find that hard to believe considering the lowest temperature ever recorded was -128 F in Antarctica.

I am serious.the term "global warming" is a misnomer (is that the word?). Someone noticed a trend a while ago that temperatures were rising and hastily called it global warming.
the truth is that the warming caused other things to occur, one of the things being colder temperatures we get now.
its one of those terms that just wormed its way in and is now acceptable, even though the literal wording is wrong. Global Warming just means an unnatural climate change due to human intervention; it does not actually mean its getting hotter.
Oh boy, it's going to drop into the 20's. :roll:GettingTired
here in California its like 76 degrees already.
Goodbye, Winter, it was nice seeing you for a whole 5 weeks. See you in 11 months :(
even the nights and mornings are getting warmer...a week ago it was in the 40s (which is cold for us), now its in the 50s
US really needs to stop using Fahrenheit. It's not logical to use it on a daily basis for the average person. Celsius has 0 as freezing and 100 as boiling, that way if someone tells you 50 its easy to imagine how hot it is, or if someone say -50 it's easy to imagine how cold it is. Fahrenheit has freezing at 32, and boiling a 212...not exactly the easiest to visualize. Now, I could understand if Fahrenheit were a unit of measurement used exclusively in scientific circles (like Kelvin) due to it being more appropriate for certain measurements. If we used Kelvin in everyday measure measurements, it would be ridiculous. 0 C degrees would be about 273.15 Kelvin. But Kelvin makes sense in scientific circles when dealing with really cold temperatures.
The Same applies with measurements like inches, yards, feet, and miles. They just make things more complicated. The metric system is neatly divided into incremements of 10, which the average human can easily visualize, and it makes going up and down in measurements extremely easy.

I agree, the only thing more baffling than the fact that we still use it, is the fact that we used it in the first place.
metric/celsius is so much easier, and it makes sense.
Hell, it would not even be hard to institute...almost all my science classes in college used the metric system, so all we have to do is change k-12 and it'd be easy.

While I was in the US Air Force, there were many incentives to take a tour of duty for 5 years in Minot, ND. Extreme cold winters and surprisingly hot summers. Very extreme weather in land-locked areas away from the calming oceans.
The running joke was "Why not Minot?". Nobody wanted to go there.
I think Celsius is dumb. Fahrenheit all the way baby!
:P
Seriously though, I don't understand Celsius.I just wanted to say i think Fahrenheit is dumb.
