I have XP. I'm thinking about upgrading to 7, but have heard that there can be obstacles. I know that it will need a clean install, but is there anything that can screw with my PC? (like driver upgrades that won't take)

No I think it's just the opposite. With XP on my current system I had to manually go in and install all of my drivers. When I installed windows 7, it installed every driver I needed from GPU to motherboard drivers during the initial set up and installation. I didn't have to go find a single one, windows was able to do it for me.

It's a great OS.

But dear lord, is the task manager bad. The one thing I miss from XP is being able to f***ing end my processes instead of asking them nicely to stop.

I've never had this problem and I'm shutting off processes all the time.

Anyway, I am very happy w/ Windows 7. It's much, much better OS than Vista.

Yea, the task manager is more or less the same as xp. just tab over to processes and rightclick the process you want to end... End the process tree and it's all said and done. It might be different if your using UAC past medium settings but it would be crazy to do such a thing.

The only thing that I do not like is when I hit ctrl + alt + del and being given a menu. I just want the task manager.

Yea, that's sometimes annoying, however I usually just right click the task bar and select task manager. If I can't do that than I have to go through the menu but all-in-all it's still the same.
