hey, i am having several error messages (16 bit, 32 bit type, ect. files not found) when i restart my pc.  if i remember right, in windows 98 you could put in the disc to repair the operating system.  could you do this with XP pro?

If it's only when you restart your computer, are you sure those aren't just programs that you deleted that are trying to start automatically?

Simple, restart, take note of the .exe paths it's trying to fire up and then search for them in your progrmas add/remove menu.  If they're still their, they're remnants of trojans.  Or you didn't delete them properly.  Remember, all Windows programs have to uninstalled so they can be pulled from the registry, otherwise, your computer gets what could be called Multiple Sclerosis for computers because of how the Registry works like a CNS.

Yeah, if that doesnt work, go to start > run > msconfig > startup ....then just uncheck the program thats causing the trouble and try again. Just becareful that its not a Windows App thats needed for startup.
