I was guilty of jumping to conclusions myself, but before you judge, rest assured there's plenty more to this story.

Google actually does offer up a warning about its walking directions--if you viewGoogle Mapson a computer, it gives you the following message: "Walking directions are in beta.Use caution--This route may be missing sidewalks or pedestrian paths."
If there was a cliff there, she probably would have walk off the edge!
Eh, no worse than the lady who sued McDonalds because she burned herself on a cup of steaming hot coffee.
She is, without question, a complete moron for walking down the middle of the road, but it was Google who directed her to the road in the first place.septemberluc
So? Here's a great example they gave in the article.
For the record, when I look updrivingdirectionsfrom my current city (San Francisco, California) to the city I grew up in (Tokyo, Japan), Google Maps suggests I kayak across the Pacific Ocean (with a rest stop in Hawaii, of course).
I can't wait until Ms. Rosenberg tries to travel overseas ("The plaintiff was unaware that attempting to kayak 5,100 miles is an unreasonable endeavor").

At least the difference with that was the coffee was unreasonably hot.
And walking down a highway is reasonable?

I think you are misunderstanding my prior post. I am saying the Mcdonald's situation wasn't as bad as this. This is a case of clear stupidity.

Doh! I thought you were saying the lady who burned herself on a cup of coffee had justification to sue because it was unreasonably hot. But to be fair, both cases are of clear stupidity. America has just become flat out sue happy, plain and simple. If you want to make money in America, find a big corporation that has a flaw like Google in their directions and sue.
Yeah when i wanted to eat at this resturant, i used google maps and it took me to an empty parking lot....so i sat in the middle of the parking lot waited to be served. I mean google cant be wrong right. People are stupid..I was guilty of jumping to conclusions myself, but before you judge, rest assured there's plenty more to this story.

Actually 190F is the correct brewing temperature for coffee. The more you know!
Yeah, this is ridiculous (although google probably should have the beta warning on smartphones, if only to cover their asses). How did she possibly come to the conclusion that walking down the middle of the highway was a good idea?

That reminds me of Seinfeld
But she survived. :("she started walking down the middle of a highway, and a car hit her"
I believe this may have been natural selection at work

Didn't she win the case because the coffee was at above average temperature?

Yea, Google should sue the driver.[QUOTE="PBSnipes"]

The main reason, if I recall correctly, was that it was ruled McDonald's failed to place an adequate warning on the cup regarding just how scaldingly hot the coffee was.
Regarding the case at hand, did she actually start walking down the middleof the highway? Not the side of the road?GabuExShe was hit by a car. I would assume that, at at least one point in time, she was walking in the middle of the road as opposed to one of the shoulders.
"Woman sues Google because she is a big fat idiot" is a better headline
Jesus Christ, where did everyone's common sense go?!?!
I don't think she has a case. She's supposed to be paying attention to where she's walking. And why the hell is she suing the driver? You're not supposed to be walking in the middle of a freaking roadway! JustPlainLucas
I hope both google and the driver counter sues for her wasting their time and money on legal fees.

Sure it says so, but I'm having trouble believing that someone like that could live to be old enough to own her own cell phone. I mean if I was told to walk down a highway and I had no other option, why the **** would I walk down the middle of the road?
Because Google didn't tell you it was dangerous to your health.Sure it says so, but I'm having trouble believing that someone like that could live to be old enough to own her own cell phone. They do. Every time I use it on my phone it says something along the lines of: In beta, use with caution. Anyways, what a stupid case. If she is that stupid she deserves to be hit by a car. Please Log In to post.
