The Black Dahlia Murder's cover for Paint It Black is one of my favorites. I never thought it could be done in Thrash/Death metal style but its pretty good.

Hmm... could you link me to the one you're talking about? I'm just really really surprised that there's a CoB cover that I haven't heard of. ;) I mean, there's been so many covers that people claim are CoB's when they aren't, I'm pretty sure this is the same case. For example, there are covers of "The Final Countdown" and "One" circulating around the internet as CoB covers, but they're definitely not.

I'd have to say O Fortuna by Therion (could that be considered a cover?).

They just make the song sound slow and boring, lacks the intensity of the original.
