I think it's more wrong to vote for a candidate just because you don't like the other guy. The "lesser of two evils" argument doesn't fly, for me personally. If I don't support a candidate then he isn't getting my vote, pure and simple.
If someone out there is someone you would want to see president, write him/her in. Nothing wrong with that. No one is going to be in that voting booth but you.
Well we got 3 votes for Oleg.. 6 more and we'll probably have more than Nader.The_Mac_Daddy
I only count two votes - you and xaos.

You can still show up and vote for local ordinances and state propositions. Do you think Medical MJ should be legal? well you might miss that vote if you keep thinking voting doesnt matter. If everyone who though like you voted against Bush in 2004, he probably would have lost. Talk about ironic.

Your right. I mean, the only reason I'd want Obama to win is just to spite my step dad *cringe* who is racist against anyone who isin't white.

Good point.
This is going to be the first election that I'll be able to vote in and frankly, the choices suck.IncipioAnima
Don't limit yourself to the Republicans and Democrats. There are 3 large third parties such as the Constitution Party, Libertarian Party, and Green Party. There is also Ralph Nader who is running as an independent.
It's your democratic right to not vote if you don't want to.
There's plenty of valid reasons not too, if you're displeased with the available candidates or with the electoral system in general than not voting or spoiling your ballot is a good way to get the message across. Low voter turn out is something people pay attention to and can spur change.
Uh, no. I didn't vote, but it doesn't make me wrong somehow...You shouldn't feel obligated to vote. If none of the candidates appeal to you, either don't vote, or write in a fake candidate.
That being said, I want at least one person who's voting to write in a fake option, then not vote for it.

I agree with everything you said but I have to wonder how much the winners care about low voter turn out. The other problem is that if everyone followed this line of thought, then there is the possibility of many spoiled ballots or low turn out which does not really help the cause when wanting to make changes.
The average voter is so uninformed that they cannot possibly know who is the best candidate for the job, I sure don't, and so I believe it's best to just let everyone else decide. Who knows, maybe some day everyone except the informed people will do the same, and then the best candidate will always win.
Of course, then the media will report that they're getting bribed and everyone will vote again, just to even it out, and we'll be back to square one. Sadly, we can never ever win. kamikaze_pigmy

There's more going on than just the presidential election. Vote NO on proposal 2. Vote YES to renew the library milage. Vote for John Doe - Road Commission. You've seen those signs in a neighbor's lawn or as you're driving. Familiarize yourself with the local election. Many are important, especially if you pay city tax (ie: homeowner). These elections often happen more frequently than the presidential election.
