You know the kind right? of course stuff happens in life, and sometimes we all need someone to be there for us, but I mean the type who calls you and is always in tears and hysterical over the phone at least once sometime even twice or 3 times a week... my friend is going out with a girl like that, and basically feels like she makes everything about her.

What about you, for all the fellas of OT would you be able to bear it? 8)

I have lived this and really hated it in general. I had dated a girl who everything was a tragedy in her life. She got yelled at by her boss, o god it was a tragedy. She diden't like her family (they did nothing wrong to her), o god she had to talk to me about it for 3 hours whining and whining. The thing I hated the most though was she would text me and if I did not respond in a minute she would text me with where are you. I remember one time I left my phone at my apartment and when I came back I had 20 texts ranging from Hi, to where are you, to why are you mad at me, to yelling at me... etc etc. In conclusion no I can't deal with overly emotional girls. Not anymore

Overly emotional seems to imply too much. Too much of a bad thing is bad. Therefore no.

I wouldnt stay with her. Everyone has their own problems but freaking out that often is ridiculous. Some of it is even over stupid stuff. From my experience these people usually do so for the attention and pity people give them.

I had a friend like this that would freak out nearly every day. For some personal reasons I am no longer friends with her and leave her in the hell she made.

I disagree that this applies only to females.

Anyways, I would try. If a person was very emotional, it's usually because of low self-esteem.

I have a friend who acts this way at times, we tried taking things 'to the next level', it didn't work out.

I wouldn't be willing to deal with a normal girlfriend so an overly emotional one is unfathomable.

I tend to be one of those.... not generally, but I can be when it comes to relationships.

Been there, done that. I'm fine with dating an emotional girl so long as all of her decisions in life are not based upon those emotions.

My criteria for continuing a relationshp is: "'Is she getting on my ****in' nerves?' If yes, then break up." That would probably get on my ****in' nerves pretty fast, so no, I wouldn't be willing to deal with it.

ha happened to me this past school year. she didn't cry on the phone but she never thought i liked her or loved her or whatever. i tried to make it work but in the end the bickering got to me. so, with that being said, i will try my hardest to make her not as emotional if i encounter another girl like that. but if push comes to shove, ADIOS!

I thought I was overly emotional until I read this thread and the examples everyone has given. Good grief, I'm not that bad. ...But I'm still overly emotional to be honest. And I couldn't date a guy who was, or who was too sensitive either.

I don't blame you one bit. But I do think there's a sorta healthy balance.. like someone can be over emotional and a little whacko AT TIMES (*cough cough not like I know anyone like that) as long as every day of their life isn't one big dramatic episode of them being a victim. You are very smart to avoid those people. The constant need for attention and whatnot means something's off.

It happening at times is completely normal. But with this friend I would ask her whats up everyday and the response was always "Ugh... Im having a horrible day for *insert reason* and Im freaking out and depressed."

I got fed up when she would stuff words into my mouth so she could complain to our other friends of how Im being mean. That and another reason.

Maybe it's a sign of immaturity more than anything else? When you're young and imagine the whole world revolves around you it's easy to be that way. And throwing words around like depressed without meaning them... yea. How you were supposed to stay friends with her I'll never know. And if she expected you to that just goes to show how immature she was (or still is). Is she still that way, do you know?

I have completely broken ties with her but my other friends are still friends with her for reasons unknown to me. They will randomly mention her in conversation and what they say pretty much confirms she is still the same.

Tbh since I have broken my ties with her I have been happier :)
