I was playing majora's mask and was inspired by the bombers. i am fed up with how people treat eachother and want to make a change.i have been thinking of starting a club that goes around helping out fellow folk with tasks and deeds. is this a good idea? would you join?

My selfish nature would prevent me from that. I wouldn't join that club unless it benefited me in a significant way. (the joy of helping others doesn't count)

I agree. Because at times, we all need help. Why would I devote my life to others while my own life has the possibility of going down the crapper itself?

Me too. Besides, all the good deeds can't change the nature of humans, people are as a whole selfish and greedy.

Nobody here feels rewarded inside after doing random good deeds? I'm assuming this is an organized, small scale club of some sort. Nothing to big that would put you in trouble, but signifigant enough to change other peoples optimism.

There's a certain sense of pride and feel-good do-gooder feelings that can be experienced after performing good deeds. But I'm not going to go out of my way to find people in need of help. There are others that already do that as a career. They get paid, I won't. I have a different career in mind. I have no problem helping an older person cross the street or carry groceries, take out their trash or cut their lawn. I do those things for my neighbors. But I'm not scouring the streets like a good dead vigilante.

You don't have to devote a lot of time to it. Doing it voluntarily is very different than getting paid. It makes people feel proud of their community and safe and optomistic of their fellow people. If you're wondering why you're community has people always in pissy moods or other problems, this could help it out.

^And also the person compared this to being a vigilante. Vigilante and community service are completely different. Vigilante is controversial. community service is just a good deed.
