I need a new iPod. My classic broke

I'm thinking maybe a 64GB classic. But those're expensive new. I could get a second hand one much cheaper. But I'm not sure if that's a good idea, I've heard people tell me that eBay can be a bit dodgey when it comes to that stuff.

I've never had a problem with eBay, but apparently It's dangerous.

Would you by second hand technology from eBay, OT?

I wouldn't do it. eBay is fine for stationary, books and games but for used electronic devices ... I wouldn't do it.

I don't trust eBay or Paypal, so I have a biased "no" to answer your question. :P

I wouldn't, not for something that needs that much reliability.

I would definitely do it, there is a very small chance anything will be wrong.

Exactly what I'm thinking. I even looked at the feedback for my considered listenings. 99% Positive for both of them.

Apparently the other guys who've posted think differently

STOP!

Before you continue as I can tell you enjoy listening to music yes? Well if you want GOOD sound quality get something from Cowon. Much better amp/dac than an iPod.

Also ebay is a good place for some electronics, I usually buy my headphone amplifiers from there (though they come new). Just make sure you have a good understanding of the details listed and find a seller who has a good rating, along with buyer protection.

You could. Just check the user's history to get a better idea. I think eBay has buyer protection as well. Personally, if I had to buy from a website, it would be from Amazon. Then again, you probably want it as cheap as possible.

Now we're in business, also Cowon players can decode Flac, so you'll need that room for all that Dream Theater :P.

The particular model to look at is the Cowon J3 32gb, which has an expandable micro SD slot so you can add a 32gb micro SD.

Well it depends how "picky" you are with electronics. Its doubtful (with 99% feedback) that the seller would sell you anything that is broken or damaged in any way. On the other hand, its highly likely there will most likely be some if not alot of cosmetic wear. Things like scratches or minor dents will be quite common.

Also with used things theres always the chance the item may still be functioning but have been previously dropped or had something spilled on it.

Personally I never buy used electronics simply because I don't know what the previous owner has done to it. If its a good deal however and you're not worried about cosmetic wear and tear its not a terrible idea.

The particular listings I'm looking at have cosmetic wear. Nothing a case can't fix :P Generally I'm not very picky. So it looks like I might as well buy it. Unless NVIDIATI comes up with a more affordable yet more amazing player

If you're careful you can. I bought my PS3 used on eBay and it has worked flawlessly.

I've had my goods and bads from buying used electronics online. In my experience buying about 20+ used electronics online most of the time it's perfectly fine. I think that too often ppl don't what they are really buying and have a bad experience with buying used stuff online that completely turns them off to it. There are tons of ppl false advertising on Ebay and other websites which is why you really have to do your research by looking at seller reviews. I usually tend to pass up sellers that have 20 or less transactions or have too many negative feedback. I just don't want to be the person having to tell everyone else that the seller is bad to work with. Also from what I've seen of the current listings on Ebay for video games or related equipment it seems as though kids are using parents accounts to sell stuff.

I bought a Radeon 9700 pro off ebay back in the day, I know people that have bought GPU's off there, seems safe to me as long as the seller is reputable.

If you bring your old ipod to the apple store they will give you 10% off a new one, its about as cheap as you can get an ipod.

A second hand one may have battery issues at minimum and at worst just be fake.

I would just get a Sandisk or upgrade my phone or get a bigger SD card. But go for it, Ebay protects buyers not sellers, like me getting screwed over for $150. I know people who fix broken electronics and sell them on ebay.

yeah I would just make sure it's not coming from asia, they're most likely fake and look totally different from what you were expecting.

I've bought electronics from ebay before no problems, as long as you check the feedback and make sure they haven't been a member like a week and got a massive feedback then it should be legit.

I would go ahead, as long as he has good feedback and a decent amount of them, and you read the description carefully. You shouldn't have any problems.

If they have high feedback 98% + go for it! Check the feedback on their profile and look for ipods to see what others have said about previously sold ipods.
