I met a girl who went to Sociology class with me. She's not pretty and one day she fell in love with me. It was horrible. She even gave me a gift she bought while she was on vacation. All I had to do was thank her and try to show no interest. Though I feel bad for her :(

Depends on what she's like, just like any other woman I meet. I'm not going to go out with her just on principle that she's in a chair, just as I'm not going to based on how big her chest is. But yes, I would date a girl in a wheelchair if she was nice.

Not to be horrible, but I'd have to be in love with her to even try. It would be pretty awkward and I'd probably slip up and accidentally say 'let's go for a walk' or mention cycling or something.

Some wheelchair-bound people I've met would actually find that funny. This one particular guy I know is so lighthearted about his condition that he'll joke about it quite often. Two statements that immediately come to mind deal with him "standing up for himself" and one day while we talked in a parking lot a car started to come. His response was "If you run into a handicapped person you automatically go to hell." I then began laughing uncontrollably for several minutes. He is now happily married.

Dating her and she ends up in a wheelchair...I would probably stay with her Already in a wheelchair...99% no (always leave 1% for a truly exceptional person) -But I am a very active person...work out 6 days a week, enjoy dancing, etc....want the same in a GF -Also, I am a very selfish person...only want to take care of myself (not that they can't take care of themselves, but it would probably be extra work...more than an able bodied GF)

Im not generally a shallow person but her personality would have to be worth it. Assuming you actually made it in the long run, her disability would be a fairly sizeable burden for you both whether you admitted it or not.

Why would they be in the wheelchair? If they're a amputee I would, if they had a spinal cord injury, no.

I'm not sure, are we talking about just a simple date? or possibly going all the way into a marriage? Sexual intimacy is a big part of marriage, and I want to have kids one day. If a person in a wheelchair is unable to do either... (You get the idea.)

the real question should be, if the person you were dating, got into an accident and ended up in a wheelchair, would you continue to date them?

For me...

That depends on the situation, if we were only dating for a week or a month, probably not.

If we had been dating for a year or two and I was ready to ask for her hand in marriage, probably.

Of course, I wouldn't see the girl any differently just because she's in a wheelchair. If we had good chemistry and all, I wouldn't care whatsoever.

Not to be mean, but I don't think I would. It seems like it would be a big burden and I have no reason to pursue a women who uses a wheelchair when there are plenty of other women out there who do not.

No I wouldn't....it'd be one thing if I started dating someone and they got in an accident and was then in a wheel chair..but I would not start a relationship with someone in a wheelchair...
