I was driving home from Alberta one weekend when I made the turn off highway 1 near Three Valley Gap. Anyway, in the pullout just past the intersection were two girls with the sign of a city in my general direction. I couldn't take them the full way, of course, but I dropped them off on the other side of my hometown to hitchhike the rest of the way. It's pretty tough to concentrate on driving with one girl leaning over you and the other offering assistance from the seat behind, though.
I'd pull over to the side and when he went to get in I'd say: "No I'm not picking you up. I just wanted to stop and tell you I wasn't going to pick you up." So in short, no.

I picked up one when I was younger. He just looked like a normal dude walking. I pull over so he can get into the car and he turns out to be like 6 foot 5 or more. anyway he was so tall his legs and knees were up front from all the way in the backseat. My girlfriend had no clue what was going on. shes like why we pulling over. The guys like thanks man and goes to get in. for like 4 miles my girlfriend didnt say a word. The guy looked a little more freaked out then we were. anyway we started to pass where he needed to get off and we let him out. after my girlfriend completely tweaked. it was an....experience. anyway I wouldnt do it again even though the guy looked more nervous then we were
As for me, I think that it would all depend on the time of day and where I was. If I'm driving in the desert, late at night, then probably not. If I'm in a good neighborhood, and it's daytime, I might be more inclined to do so.
Ill only pick them up if their on the highway while im going at 100km per hour. I have a sign that says ``If you can hop on, you deserve the ride`` Therefore if they can jump on my speeding car I will give them a ride.
