For me it's got to be a combination of both, i will never date an ugly girl or a girl with a personality i don't like. There has to be a balance of both in a girl and i'm happy to say my girlfriend of four years has this balance :D!

Another thing to remember about personality is that it doesn't have to be similar to yours, sometimes opposites to attract and become a success as a relationship as you balance each other out. While one is more extroverted and spontaneous the other might be more introverted and conservative, but they can make up for each others flaws.
