As much as I have existential crises and essentially fear death, being immortal would be exponentially worse than death.

Not really. I would like to live longer than the 110 years (at best) that we get....but living life knowing there won't ever be an end to it would probably drive me crazy.

Immortal as in not being affected by natural causes (sickness, old age)? Or 100% immortal? At a certain point Earth won't be hospitable for life, and even later than that the Suns core will run out of hydrogen and then helium, and it will expand and consume Earth. So, I think there are certain things stacked against being immortal. Nevermind life slowly losing meaning, family members and friends dying, and a whole host of other things. I think I would rather have a loooooong healthy life. 200 years maybe.

It wouldnt be possible to live a normal life since eventually someone would realize that you either dont age or dont die and then you'd be locked up and studied forever.

I would think it would be incredibly depressing after awhile. Plus you would have to work quite a lot if you weren't rich.

if that means raping every beautiful girl you see and robbing a bank for your whole life and not get any STD's and police cant kill you and getting everything you want for free and beating down Robert Bowling and grow a beard and do what Epic Beard Man did and being a president of america and declaring war against other country

that would be cool but no thanks

immortality leads to evil deeds

by living a life worth living for, by creating a legacy you become immortal - Saw movie

Hell yeah, even if the world ends, as long as I have some manner of space travel I wouldn't mind one damn bit. There is a big universe out there, I might go crazy searching for intelligent life but I know its out there.

I guess it wouldn't be too bad if I was also invulnerable and didn't age. If not, I would probably get mutilated and still have to live. Also, having an escape mechanism in case immortality isn't doing it for me anymore wouldn't hurt. Kind of like in one of the many versions of the story of Longinus, who supposedly was made immortal as a curse for stabbing Jesus on the crucifix but could die if he was stabbed with the Holy Lance.

No. I would suffer more than benefiting from living forever. It is probably a fate worse than death itself.

If it were immorality in a place like heaven then yes I would. Immortality here on earth would be hell. Sure life is great now, but to watch everyone you've ever loved and cared for die again and again. To be sick and tired of your careers, to end up doing the same thing over and over again for centuries. Yea, I think I'll pass. Death is a gift that comes to all of us. If you think about it, death helps to give life direction and a sense of meaning. I'd much rather be my mortal self.

I'd love to be immortal. I'd use my time for three things... 1) to become insanely rich and connected so that I could control the social/political world from inside the shadows. 2) to learn every possible musical instrument and master it, and 3) to learn every style of martial art/weapon and use them for random killing whenever I feel like it (which after I finished 1 and 2 would probably be all the time).

I just don't understand why so many people have this viewpoint. Living forever means the opportunity for limitless knowledge. You could read every book ever written. Learn everything there is to learn. See the future evolution of life. I think you are thinking too short term (or in some cases too long-term when speaking of the world ending). Hundreds and thousands of years down the road you could be viewed as a god. Having never-ending knowledge of the past. You would be a thing of legend eventually. The one all-powerful, all-intelligent being wandering the earth. And even if, somehow, you didn't figure out a viable way to get off this planet (which seems pretty impossible considering you would literally have the time to study everything) the end of the world would be welcome. Long distance space travel would be a non-issue as you would obviously live long enough to get anywhere. Yes it may be boring at times but I can't even imagine all the possibilities of things you could do/build/become.
