As much as I have existential crises and essentially fear death, being immortal would be exponentially worse than death.
if that means raping every beautiful girl you see and robbing a bank for your whole life and not get any STD's and police cant kill you and getting everything you want for free and beating down Robert Bowling and grow a beard and do what Epic Beard Man did and being a president of america and declaring war against other country
that would be cool but no thanks
immortality leads to evil deeds
by living a life worth living for, by creating a legacy you become immortal - Saw movie
what if immortal youth is added as well?ambitiousknight
No...
Its better to burn out than to fade away.
Hell yeah, even if the world ends, as long as I have some manner of space travel I wouldn't mind one damn bit. There is a big universe out there, I might go crazy searching for intelligent life but I know its out there. XturnalS
maybe those intelligent life knows how to kill you. they might have some sort of powers to turn you into dust and put you into jar but you are still alive. would you like to live in a jar forever?
Nah, I wouldn't want to get into a sword fight and have my head lopped off.
There can only be one!

What if you are the one... WHOO WANTS TO LIIIVE FOR EVER!!
Such a brilliant movie.
I guess it wouldn't be too bad if I was also invulnerable and didn't age. If not, I would probably get mutilated and still have to live. Also, having an escape mechanism in case immortality isn't doing it for me anymore wouldn't hurt. Kind of like in one of the many versions of the story of Longinus, who supposedly was made immortal as a curse for stabbing Jesus on the crucifix but could die if he was stabbed with the Holy Lance.
I would take long life over immortallity.
And I would rest when everything has died, and there is nowehre left to go, and no more left to do
How so?Stavrogin_All humans die. From birth, we are all in a constant state of decay and eventual cessation.
No. I would suffer more than benefiting from living forever. It is probably a fate worse than death itself.
Depends if I had all my faculties or not. And what happens when all the universe dies around you and you have nothing left to do?
Yes. I would let my hair grow. Dye my hair white. Buy a huge katana and claim myself the destroyer of worlds. (sephiroth fanboy much?)
[QUOTE="Stavrogin_"]How so?foxhound_foxAll humans die. From birth, we are all in a constant state of decay and eventual cessation.Well that would mean that death is the final step, the end. Not just another step. Nevermind, maybe i got that "another step" wrong. ;)
Nope. i hear history repeats itself. So I dont want everyday to turn into "Hmm, I remember this happening before..."
I fail at using over used image.

Thats the one thing I don't want to happen to me. To be trapped on this planet forever would be a living nightmare.
Necrifer
The planet would be gone eventually. :)
That would be terrible, floating in space freezing to death and yet not dieing.
Thats the one thing I don't want to happen to me. To be trapped on this planet forever would be a living nightmare.Just-BreatheI just don't understand why so many people have this viewpoint. Living forever means the opportunity for limitless knowledge. You could read every book ever written. Learn everything there is to learn. See the future evolution of life. I think you are thinking too short term (or in some cases too long-term when speaking of the world ending). Hundreds and thousands of years down the road you could be viewed as a god. Having never-ending knowledge of the past. You would be a thing of legend eventually. The one all-powerful, all-intelligent being wandering the earth. And even if, somehow, you didn't figure out a viable way to get off this planet (which seems pretty impossible considering you would literally have the time to study everything) the end of the world would be welcome. Long distance space travel would be a non-issue as you would obviously live long enough to get anywhere. Yes it may be boring at times but I can't even imagine all the possibilities of things you could do/build/become.
