That would be horrible. I don't think I'd do it.

The only situation I would do it is if I was homeless and really needed the money.

I think so; but people will tell me I can't say that because I'm underestimating jail... Life is boring here anyway. I think I'd do it.

Sure, jail has never seemed like that much of a punishment to me anyway. Guaranteed meals everyday, cigarettes as currency, don't have to worry about paying for housing or anything like that. Sure the company wouldn't be so great but hey, nothings perfect.

Heck no. A million dollars is not enough money for me to do that and waste my year away. Twenty million for that stipulation and a guarantee that I will not be hurt in the process then sure.

Not unless I move to another state or something. Cost of living here and what I'd be giving up in my life here is worth more than the million.

Yes, definitely. I could take a year of jail for a million dollars - at least, I think I would be able to take it. Either way, I would agree to the proposition if it was presented to me.

Why? I don't want to. I love it here. A million dollars will not even buy a decent house here. A decent house in another state perhaps but that is it.

I'd do it. Prison is something I've always been curious about. I think the hard part would be avoiding shanking or beating someone to death and getting a life sentence and no 1 million dollars.

It's not like I'd stop working. I'd consider the million dollars more of a rockin' ancillary benefit. Plus, mortgages on cardboard boxes are pretty cheap.

I'd do it because right now I am a college student and make less than 20k a year with my part time job. A million bucks would be a like a guarantee at a successful and great life for me. Hopefully me and my rear end would survive the prison time though !

I would spend 5 years in jail for a million. If you lived off the interest from a million alone, you would be sitting pretty for the rest of your life. Sitting in jail on taxpayer money, reading books for five years, I would be more than happy with the outcome! I would donate a fair percentage to worthy charities of my choice annually, thereafter, as recompense and decency would dictate. At least the the tax money would indirectly and inadvertently end up going to worthy causes years down the line.

I don't know, a million sounds tempting considering that would be more than I would make in 12 or so years in the career I'm taking. I guess it depends on the prison and if the guards perform their duties respectively...

I think I could live with that. But I probably wouldn't voluntarily do it.

I mean, if I had to spend that year in prison, and then got surprised with a miliion dollar check as I was walking to my freedom after the Year In Prison was over, I'd probably think it was a fair trade.

But if I knew the deal before I ever went to prison, I probably wouldn't agree to the deal. I mean, a million dollars is very tempting, but it ain't THAT much. For example, I'm 30 years old. If I figure that I'll die by the age of 65, that gives me 35 more years to live. Divide one million by 35, and that's a little more than $28,500 per year. That's a nice bonus, but that ain't exactly an incredibly sum of money.

That'd allow me to never have to work another day in my life, provided I was comfortable with the life of someone who only makes $28,000 per year.

And I've got to admit, that's still tempting. But I'm not quite sure it's worth all of the various horrible stuff that can happen to me during a year in prison.

But on the other hand, if I had already been to prison for even a few months, then I'd take the deal in a heartbeat. If I'd previously been to prison for 5 months and DIDN'T get a million dollars upon my relaease, then I'd probably take the offer. Because if I can survive 5 months, I can probably survive a year. And if I already did 5 months with no reward, I figure it'd be very tempting to do 12 months with A ONE MILLION DOLLAR REWARD.
