Poll Would you tell your partner/spouse your PIN? (26 votes)

Yes, I trust them completely 65%
I trust them, but not that much 8%
Nope, never 27%

So, tonight when we were standing in line at the supermarket, my girlfriend told me to take her card from her and pay for the stuff. And so she told me her PIN.

I never asked her for it, she just went ahead and told me. I found it a tad strange, considering we haven't been together for that long, but it's good to know she trusts me that much.

Has anyone here told there partner/spouse their PIN? Is this something that you're open to doing?

Yes, I know hers and she knows mine. We're married and have known each other for 6 years, or 7, maybe 8...I forget.

I've been married for 14 years and there's nothing I don't share with my wife including my boxers.

This is a silly question re: a spouse. It might seem odd for a girl you are dating, but it's common practice to use shared accounts for husband and wife so sharing a "pin" is irrelevant. If a married couple plans well, they should each have Power of Attorney for each other.

I would hope you would share that information with a trusted companion, and more.

Also, credit security/prevention has gotten pretty good that if you check your accounts daily, you can generally catch any bad activity and correct it before too much damage is done.

I have told her mine, and I think she knows it by memory, but to be fair it's a really simple number to remember. She's told me hers a couple of times, but frankly I don't remember it. I'm really bad at remembering numbers.

My spouse? Sure.

If you don't mind me asking, how long have you been with this lady OP?

Nope. No reason they would need to know it.

Spouse? Of course. Dann I couldn't imagine the pain in the ass that would be to pay the bills with desperate accounts. Now if it was a girlfriend. I would probably just tell her to use the tap function haha

Once my wife finds work, I'm going to open a secret savings account and put some of every pay cheque in there to surprise her with a trip.

Less than 2 months.

Believe me, I was quite surprised when she told me.

There are some things I would never tell a partner/spouse. This is one of them.

Shared with my ex (when we were dating). She shared hers with me as well. If I am ever with someone for that long again, I think I'll rather make a joint bank account. Use it for all shared expenses.

Hawaii. I wanted to go there on our honeymoon, but we couldn't afford it.

Yeah, this was my point. I don't know the pin on her card because I have my own card for the same account.

The wife keeps my credit cards except the one for gassing up the car. My paychecks go into a joint account.

If I'm buying something, I just put it in the cart and let her pay for it. ;)

I'm married and she does know my PIN and she has full access to everything. I know she won't misuse it and it can actually be very important if, for example, I get involved in an accident and become unconscious

We have a joint account and she gets her own card and pin but I don't care if she knows mine. After all, we've been together for 16 years.
