So I went into work today and checked the schedule to see when I had lunch, and I was surprised to see a completely different schedule than the one they had up the other day. So I went to ask my manager which was the correct schedule, and he said he wasn't too sure and I should just go ahead and go home now. So, here I am, seven hours early

Is the Circuit City in your area like this? Because if all the stores are run like this, they aren't going to last much longer.

Yea i dont know about that either. From what i hear in retail, the schedule is suppose to be posted 2 weeks in advance, and only changed upon requesting your permission. I could be wrong. And also im pretty sure if you are scheduled for a shift, they are suppose to honor that schedule by allowing you at LEAST 3 hours, if not, the entire shift.

It starts off when Circuit City a few years ago when they laid off all of their experience works for less experience. These experience workers were getting paid like $11 per hour, so to save money Circuit City just fired all of them and got new workers for $8 per hour. http://www.resellerratings.com/store/Circuit_City http://www.resellerratings.com/store/Newegg Which one would you go to after reading this?

I worked for them and quit just before the large firings. They were bleeding money before that, we actually had a few store meetings about how the company had stopped growing and the competitors were taking ground. Upper management has been incompetent for a long time. As for store and department managers, the store has always placed sales above managerial skills. If you sell well they put you in management, and that's where these employees begin to falter. They're the perfect example of the Peter Principle. These managers have the personalities of sales people, they are incapable of efficiently delegating duties and handling pressure.

They were going to fail years ago, but they own Carmax, which apparently saved them. Anyway, the store near me is terrible. Its like nobody works there. I've literally walked around the store for 1 or 2 hours several times without once being acknowledged by an employee. Even if I'm looking at a big ticket item like a tv or computer, you get nothing. And when you go to the cashier...there is nobody there. Not even 1 person. You have to go tell somebody you are ready to checkout. I hate shopping there, but they oftentimes have better prices on games/movies than best buy.

That isn't Circuit City's fault but your store manager/manager in charge of the schedule, most likely caused by lazyness. I get that sometimes at my job where my store manager is too lazy to do the schedule right/on time. Coincidently the company I work for almost bought our Circuit City.

That's how the K Mart is by where I live. Comparing the local K Mart to Target is like comparing poop to Godiva.
