wtf.. For you guys in College is it REALLY THAT HARD to have free time?  TV teaches us that College is VERY hard to most and that you take home BOOK PILES of paper work.  I am going to attend this year I remembered and what should I expect?  I want to be a Scientist, Studying Planetary Geoglogy.   I plan on living with my parents seeing as we just got a cozy new condo.  I am going to a community college for now.  if youre in the Richmond (VA) are I'm going to J Sargeant Reynolds.

If you want free time, college is probably not for you. But you can make time if you manage your homework and studies. But thats just borrowed time untill semester break.

your first year wont be to difficult. you'll usually do alight if you work during the week, so that you can have the weekend to yourself, when you start getting into your 2nd and 3rd year is when it gets much more difficult.

I had a lot of free time in my freshman year. On average, a college student only has three classes per day.

Welcome to four years of ecstatic hell . . . no, actually, it's just boring most of the time; that was my experience, at least.

If you just attend school, no it's not that hard.  When you try to work while attending school, then it can be difficult.

Well first off every one of my friends that went to community college claimed it was much more like high school than college so you'll want to keep that in mind.

As for 4 year schools your experience can vary alot from person to person.  I've found you really only have time for 3 things you can party, sleep and study, but you can only do 2 of these at a time.

You can party and study

study and sleep

or sleep and party.

Community colleges aren't hard...

Go to an Ivy League or techincal college. That's hard. And science classes in college are hard because of class time + problem sets + lab time. Humanities and social sciences are hard because you have to read like 200 pages of useless crap a night (but if you're smart and learn quick, you only skim things).

If you put a fair effort into things, college isn't that bad though.

If you realize that now prior to college, you're better off than half who are in college. My class mates had literally... oh say 10 hours of class a week, with Monday and Fridays off. I had 8 hours of LAB a week in my Junior and Senior years. In total I averaged from 15 to 25 hours a week in class/lab, add on another 10 to 15 to make it a full work week. The rest of my class mates slacked off and played ultimate frisbee.
