So I'm about to be a second year in university and I've got a year to decide my major. As the topic says, I have no idea what to major in!

I've ruled out science degrees, not because I'm bad at science, but because I don't care enough to put the effort for the major.

I love learning languages, enjoy music, and I'm considering of traveling when I get older. I've taken a year of Japanese and already dreamt in it and I started learning Korean this summer (I'm not really sure why I learned those langauges, I don't watch anime or read manga XD).

I want to be multilingual sometime in the future, so I'm considering possibly a degree in international affairs, but that's just a thought. Help XD!

EDIT: Before get too many "only you can decide" and "you're a dumbass if you're asking an OT forum" responses, I just want everyone to know that I AM taking this with a light heart, IT IS NOT MY ONLY RESOURCE FOR HELP, and that I might good some helpful answers :D.

What exactly do you do w/ a Political Science degree?

I've also considered possibly a business degree (I really don't know that much about business) because I know that it's a wonderfully vague major, but my university's business school is one of the top in the nation and I don't want to try to do all the requirements for something that I'm iffy about...

As for the international relations, I'm really not sure about that either, it's sounds interesting but I'm not sure if that's something I really want to do.

I'm a pretty fun, sporadic guy. I like to play the guitar, play games, go to parties, but simulataneously be academic and learn things. My friends say that whatever I do it'll probably be random, but that really doesn't help my current situation XD.

Major in whatever the hell you want. If you seriously want your future to be decided by an internet forum, then you don't deserve to major in anything.

I had my reservations about asking an OT forum on a video game website about something serious to me, but I realized that I could get some good answers. However, don't assume this is my only resource, I'm not a dumbass.

I've thought about that, that's kinda what my sights are on right now but I'm still not really sure. Do you have any knowledge of that major and minor (pay, demand for job, types of jobs, etc.)?

I'm afraid not; I'm a double major in religious studies and philosophy, so I'm broke as hell. But I know money isn't the secret to happiness, so I'm cool. :P

Yea that's something I need to figure out, how much money I'll be happy with XD. I'd like to be well off but not necessarily rich, and I know a lot of this stuff matters on when and where I live etc etc. What was it exactly that led you into the direction of your choice of majors?

I was going to go into Pre-Law, but, to the utter devastation of my family, reality hit and I realized I just couldn't take that kind of life. Then I began to wonder why, and that's where philosophy came in. As for religion, that's just interesting. It has a little of everything in it, too: history, psychology, sociology, anthropology, humanities, science (oh yes, it's there), political science, and so on.

It's best to look at what you want to do in the future and then work towards that. Going by your interests, maybe journalism. You can travel and use your language skills if you become an international corespondent, or you could focus on areas of interest like the entertainment industries. It's good to do more than just one major, though. If you go as a journalist, major in journalism and then either the English language or digital technologies.

See I want to work overseas, but I also want to work for the government. That's why I'm doing a quad-major in European Studies, Politics, Marketing, and Public Relations. It's a very broad set of majors but they are all inter-linked and can be used to further either working overseas, working in the marketing industry or working for the government.

You are spot on about journalism. I've actually e-mailed a couple of writers for Kotaku about my dilemma (although I've yet to get any replies). Journalism is something I've kept in the back of my head because I'm afraid to take it serious with myself, I've had no experience (although I've done well in my writing classes), and I'm a bit worried about the pay and jobs. It's something that I'm just starting to inquire to but I'm really not sure how much I want to do it. If I do end up doing it, I'd have to be something I really enjoy, I think the writers at Kotaku or Destructoid have awesome jobs.

How on earth are you able to quad major? At my school we're only able to double major o_0. I can't imagine what the workload is...that quad-major thing is part of a 4 year undergrad program right?

types of jobs I can think of are translator, something related to the embassy ( maybe even ambassador ), and tourist guide lol. My cousin speaks Portugese, Spanish, Filipino and English. She makes pretty good money with her main job in an embassy and even on the side as a translator for texts. The demand for a translator is pretty high-average I think.
