I dont know whats worse.

People that think the US can do no wrong....

...or people that think the US can do no right.

We will obviously hear a lot more of the latter in this thread I think, which is sad because I think the US did the right thing.

Until we start seeing results from these so-called allied countries in the Middle East, we need to take matters into our own hands. So, if a big player for the terrorists is camped five miles across the border and Syria does nothing about it, I think a quick trip in a helicopter with some special ops guys is completely fair.

Folks, there really are terrorists out there. Just because the US screwed up before does not mean we are wrong every time, and we still reserve the right to clean up messes that effect the world even when so-called friendly nations refuse to clean it up themselves.

This just reeks of desperation by the US government. From what I read on BBC news up to 8 civilians were killed in the strikes, an unnanounced strike on a relatively speaking uninvolved country that breaks international law and respect for sovereign terroritory.

Bush likes to talk of rogue nations, he should look long and hard in the mirror.

I get a little uneasy when I hear that the US attacked terrorists in other countries without informing. Yes, get the terrorists but at some point you have to respect other countries' borders. How can you expect to keep allies when you do this? Quite a self-righteous act if you ask me. I know these countries have to cooperate to show good faith but come on. If another country did that on US soil, you can bet that the story wouldn't end there.

I'm an American but I honestly don't blame foreigners for getting sick of American arrogance.

Well , just imagine that russia had some terroists in their country who attack the united states , yet russia refused to do anything about it. Would you think it would be ok and smart for us to attack over their border? I doubt it. The only reason we can do this to a country like syria is because they are weak compared to us, but that doesnt make it right. It is still wrong on our part to ignore foreign governments and go blow things up in their countries. Also, if another country did to us what we did to Syria, people would obviously not react the same way.

Look, there's a lot more to this than meets the eye. Sure, the targets may have been terrorists. In fact, I'm pretty sure the military targeted known terrorists. There's a whole other way of looking at this though. Terrorists originating in the middle east are there because we have been sticking ourselves into their politics for so long. Do you really think that by bombing more of the middle east, this will stop? I mean really, if somebody hates you, are they going to stop hating you because you punch them in the face? No, that's stupid. It just means they continue to hate you and so does everyone else who saw you punch them in the face. I'm not saying this action is morally wrong, I'm saying it's stupid. The US is coming out of this looking like the bully. Everyone hates the bully. If our goal is to stop anti-American sentiment, we should find a way to stop acting like the bully. Otherwise anyone who attacks the US will come across as a hero to most of the world.

Yes, but I think we may be over-extending ourselves here. We're already in Afghanistan and Iraq, already speaking of war in Iran and Pakistan. At a certain point, we need to realize that just because we can justify it doesn't mean we can pull it off.

Btw I am fairly sure it was a Syrian state run media outlet that declared that 8 civilians were killed ( I think BBC reported on it using them as a soruce)

not exactly what I would call reliable.

My point was that according the logic displayed in the initial post, China should be allowed to bomb MS13 strongholds in Los Angeles since they're shipping drugs and crap from there. Same goes for Mexico and Canada.

I don't think it's wise to pass off judgment so soon. This just happened, so we need to wait for more news.

I feel this bodes ill. Even if the US actions were completely justified, that still doesn't change the fact that Syria is now completely pissed at us. >_>

So...

Attacking a terrorist camp is equivalent to bombing a densely populated city over drug dealers? >_>

Drug dealers? Both are criminal organizations.

And you're just using semantics. No it's not the same, but the point wasn't to point out the similarities between a settlement and a city.

Both orginaztions are terroristic, what their goals are is COMPLETELY and UTTERLY irrelevant. The fact that you're desperately trying to think of an argument against it show how biased you actually are, and is quite honestly...laughable.

Yes, I will bow down to the almight jointed. Because whatever he says must be true. There can be no arguments made against his views.....give me a break.

And uhh...there goals are COMPLETELY and UTTERLY relevant. If one's goal is the complete destruction of the infadels of the West, and ther other's is to make some money selling drugs, I'd say their goals are, infact, relevent. You see, we try to take care of our drugs problems. We aren't just sitting on the side line and letting this happen or support it. Syria on the other hand was letting this **** happen, and it is our business.

Terrorist bent on the destrucion of the infadels of the West and a drug organization are two completely different things...... the fact that you compare the two is just laughable.

Yes, you're quite right,

Explain the relevance of it then. Both organizations are using terrorism to get what they want, MS13's goal isn't to make money selling drugs, it's expansion. If China deems the US incapable of handling the situation, should they be allowed to take American MS13 strongholds out? MS13's drug and immigrant trafficing is directly affecting China and other Asian countries, so according to you China should have that right.

it's called diplomacy, use it before going in guns blazing into a difrent INDEPENDENT country. Syria is Syria you have no **** buisness to do in it without them giving you permission for it, anything else is legaly AN ACT OF WAR. I just don't understand how people can't get their head around the fact that one country has no right to cross the borders of a difrent country with it's military, how the hell can people think that the whole world is just a US playground. The US have no right to cross over the border into a difrent country without permission, none at all.

now if you use special forces and don't get cought it's a compleatly difrent thing

When the man you are trying to catch is on the move you don't really have time to go asking for permission. They were barely on the inside border because the mission originally started out in Iraq and the U.S. DID HAVE PERMISSION from them. However the U.S. didn't believe that they would have to go into Syria. Do you really think the U.S. is going to let an international terrorist get away and then subsequently fail the whole operation just because he is a few miles on the inside border of Syria. That is insane and it is also the same kind of crap that every other whipped country lets go on. If countries like Syria would do their job then it would never happen.

"The spokesman, Ali Dabbagh, added, "We don't want for these isolated acts to affect our relations with Syria. We want good relations, but we must remember that 13 Iraqi policemen from the Ministry of Interior were killed in an Iraqi bordering village near that region by a terrorist group that was operating from the Syrian territories."

Well, it seemed like Syria was housing some terrorists and that Iraq wasn't too against it. I just wish it was executed better.

I will once you explain what your point actually is, instead of posting your usual crap!

jointed

Hmm, so you decided to judge my point without even understanding it...smart move :P

My point was that according the logic displayed in the initial post, China should be allowed to bomb MS13 strongholds in Los Angeles since they're shipping drugs and crap from there. Same goes for Mexico and Canada.

The difference is that we try to stop these drug dealers while Syria doesn't do anything about these terrorists. Not to mention terrorists are just a little more dangerous than drug dealers.

Fail.

Oh my  If the result is the same, then it's irrelevant. Do you really think that the US would NOT attack these strongholds if the Syrians "tried" to do something about it? Are you even aware of Syria's situation?

And you've got to be kidding me, MS13 is far more dangerous than a crippled middle eastern guerilla group. Shows how much you know.

I suggest you come with solid arguments before you proclaim "fail" next time

The difference is that the USA is trying to get rid of MS13, Syria wasn't doing a thing about the terrorists.

If you do, then please enlighten me.
