WTH, Gamespot, what's with all the ads?

Seriously, as if load times weren't long enough already with your new layout, now you're sticking embedded videos in everywhere? To hell with you. My adblock will get you eventually, and I'll be back to stealing money from your asses within weeks.

what ads?

I've had an explosion of ads recently, mostly embedded videos. This is unusual for me, as I use ABP. I figure they've found some way to bypass adblockers for the time being.

First off, Gamespot does a much better job at with advertisement than most sites. And secondly, if you aren't using adblock then why do you even internet?

@theone86: You need both adblock and noscript if you don't want ads.

Doesn't seem like malware, most times that's popups and the like. It's just that where the ads would usually be blocked, at the top, bottom, and sides of the page, ads are showing up.

I am using adblock, that's why I'm pissed.

havent seen any ads. though i only visit OT. not sure about the rest of the site.

I just use Adblock+ and that one stylish thingy to center the forums and take off those those useless boxes saying who has posted the most and shit to the right of the screen.

If you're still getting ads with abp, then you probably have some sort of malware.

As everyone else is saying, sounds like you have some kind of adware, if you're seeing any ads while using adblock. I'm also using adblock, and nothing else special. Just whatever was the first thing that popped up when i searched google for "adblock" so long ao. Have never seen a single ad, of any kind, on this or any other site, since then.

There are plenty of websites out there with instructive ads, Gamespot is not one of those. I like to support Gamespot by keeping adblock off. There are a couple of times I would turn on adblock for Gamespot website when their ads cause my PC to slow down.

When I use Maxthon, it is useless for this kind of stuff, so I always have to put up with ads when I use it, even though it has an ad hunter built into it; which basically does nothing.
