Have you always wanted to get in shape or lose weight, but you are too lazy or keep procrastinating like me? Well here is your chance!

For the next month, from today until Christmas day I will be holding something I am calling the "I Don't Want To Die" Campaign... essentially a "Biggest Loser" style competition for Gamespot. There is no prize or anything. Just a way for other lazy gamers like myself to whip themselves into shape.

Well, I know how much you guys hate to read so you can just check out my blog if you want to learn more. Or post here if you have any questions... or want to randomly flame me, which goes without saying :P. I'd appreciate you keep this bumped though.

Thanks... I don't know if fun will be the right word though. Starting to run again after about 3 years of complete physical inactivity is going to make me pretty sore for the next couple of days.

I'm all for your choice, but you're going about it the wrong way. The maximum amount of weight you should be losing per week is 2 pounds. I realise you won't be starving yourself, but the weight loss aspect is undeniably too much. At most i would aim to lose 15 pounds in this alloted time. I do know what yopu want to do though, i actually went from 185 to 139 pounds in the course of two years just from moderate daily exercise. I think it's great that your doing this, but i wouldn't set your goals at such a high level. I think the result for you will be great regardless though.

Thanks for the input... maybe my goals are set a little too high. Like I said I'm not going mainly by weight anyway as I plan on putting on muscle too. I should probably be watching blood pressure as another big measurement as I want to drop that as well before I am older and need medications for it.

Care to share your success story, what you changed to go from your previous lifestyle to your current one and lose all that weight? Did you just start walking 30 minutes a day, or more than that and cut back on your eating?

Same here. I'm in shape( as in no fat), but I hadn't run physically for so long that when I was at conditioning for baseball I got my ass kicked and cut from the team

Sure. :P

It all started when i was in 8th grade. I weighed 185 pounds and was only about 5'6 at the time. Eventually i got fed up with myself, i was eating junk food every day, and i was always getting picked on at school. Over the year, i just started to ride my bike for an hour a day, not really cutting back on my food intake. I lost about 10 pounds by the time i was in grade nine, but i still wasn't satisfied. I had stopped my bike riding, but completely cut out my junk food intake and walked for an hour and a half a day. By grade ten, i was down to 165 pounds, and felt like i could still lose more. I joined a karate class mainly for the exercise, and went down to 155 pounds by mid semester. I started watching my calorie intake, and with pretty intense exercise twice a day, i got down to 140 pounds by grade 11. Now i'm not concerned with my weight, and am just focusing on building muscle.

i think its great that you have decided to start getting in shape. It will make you feel better, less stressed, and you will be more confident. There are only advantages to this decision. I wish you the best of luck!

i lost almost 100lbs in a year. i played a lot of dance dance revolution. and whenever i could, i would go for walks with my handheld consoles. it's unfortunate that toning exercises cant be multi-tasked with gaming...

I just got back from an hour-long brisk walk/hike on a nature trail and I'm doing pretty good so far. Last week after the same walk, my thighs were killing me. Planning on going for a half-hour run tonight followed by some weight lifting and situps.. maybe pushups.

I'm 5'6" and as of this morning I weigh 185.8 pounds. That gives me a BMI of 30... I just went from the "overweight" catagory to "obese", which triggered this.

Yarcofin

I'm the same height as you but about 20 pounds heavier. I already did a bit of exercise today, I'd like to just get myself back to like the 180 range.I've just gotten a little appetite on me recently, gained a lot of weight, it's that time of year. I like staying around 180 though, it's my "right size" I'd like to think. As much as I like myself on the fluffy side I do try to maintain some control.

Anywho, good luck with your challenge thingy. Be sure to keep us updated and all that jazz.

What's a yarcofin ?How did you get that name ?turgore

It's a complex story... my friends and I have evolved very unique nicknames over the years. For example my friend Derek, I just randomly started answering the phone "Yo, Deriko!" when he called at one point. That slowly became a single name, Yodariquo.

My username is a similar story. I think originally it was a mixture between my last name and a viking named Thorfinn Karlsefni, mixed with the fact that I am a lifeguard and liked to swim a lot (then I stopped and became fat XD.) So in short... I'm not completely sure.

Thanks for not mispronouncing it Yar-Coffin like most people though, it's Yar-Coh-Fin.

Now... what the heck is a "Turgore"? :P

Or you can stop eating salt, lose water weight, and then balance your meals so you naturally slim down without exercise.

Well if he exercises and eats correctly, then, depending on his weight, he may start out losing a little more. But after he gets used to exercising, the average weight loss should be around 2 lbs. per week.

Good Luck BTW.

take into consideration that you are the only person in this thread being cruel. also, you're only level 1.

mob mentality says you may not last long with that attitude... and being banned from a forum is far from being considered an "acheivement"

go watch Bambi and learn some manners "if you can't say something nice, you'll get your @$$ banned" so, how about we start over?

Should've just started a new thread on it. :P But on a side note, the TC blog had a post about the MMORPG Silkroad Online. That brings back memories of when I used to play iSRO.
