You haven't had any energy in a year and a half? Then I believe you may be suffering from death.

Your parents don't let you take medicine? It sounds like you are almost 18 if you aren't already. 18 year olds can take medicine whether their parents want them to or not.

Well I've been tired for probably a year and a half now. I can get anywhere from 8-14 hours a sleep and I still feel incredibly exhausted/tired/restless/sluggish when I wake up. I don't feel I get any benefits from sleep like waking up a little refreshed. And I woke up at 3:30 AM today to start my day (because I decided their's no point in sleeping later). I remember what having energy felt like and I haven't had ANY in a year and a half +. My parents don't really care and don't think it's a problem even after complaining to them for so long and telling them that its driving me crazy. They just blame it on random things (playing video games, protein shakes, etc.). They also say that I can't take medicine even if it is prescribed by a specialist, because they think medicine makes things worse. My life's going good, just applied to college with the gpa I worked hard to get, got a gaming pc, family life is alright, etc, so it's not like I am depressed. The only anxiety I have is that no one wants to help. What should I do?

luggymeister

well sometimes over sleeping can cause you to lag a bit..I know if I get anything more than 9hours I'm down and out the next day. But yeah I'd definatly go see someone about this.

Maybe it's not depression, but stress. Do you worry a lot about life, college life, friends, money, etc? That may be the cause of how you feel.

What do you do during the day? I know that with myself when I'm not busy I'm tired. When I keep myself busy I'm wide awake not thinking about how tired I might be.

Maybe its your diet? You're not eating the correct foods to give you the energy you need? I dunno.

Do you snore real loudly when you sleep?

Have you ever woken up in the middle of the night gasping for air?

If those things happen to you, you most likely have sleep apnea. I have it and now I get great sleep, except I have to use a machine to help me breathe at night.

Dude, ITS THE PROTEIN shakes! Trust me, i suffered the same symptons as you when i was on those damn shakes and i went to the doctor and he told me about a substance in them that give you mood swings and sleeping problems! Trust me, cut it out for a month and stay on real food and believe me, you'll have energy!

just sounds like you have a lot on your mind to me. at one time in my life ( for bout for 6 months ) i only took naps. you're about to go to college and become more independent, that can be a reason for the insomnia. your diet and late night gaming can be a problem too. i don't think itz anything serious but if you do..... go see a doctor.

Too much video games and protein shakes are bad for getting you to sleep. Try:

A)Changing diet to less protein more vegetables and fruit, 7 portions a day

B) Don't game an hour before you go to bed.

C) Go to bed at a similar time every night and get a routine going.

You could have anemia, or cancer.

Its more likely that your just a teenager who sleeps alot. Sleeping alot just makes you more tired, so does being lazy.

I don't know why people are suggesting you are ahving trouble sleeping, considering you said you can sleep up to 12+ hours a night.

I would try getting on a more regular schedual. Go to bed at the same time, wake up at the same time every day. I will assume that your taking protein shakes that you work out and get exercise, have a good diet and take vitamins, so those can't be a problem.

I wouldn't worry about it too much, unless your having other persisting symptoms.

You never know about the depression thing, m8. But you can always try taking a week off and go on a holiday, if you're allowed to, alone. Try cut down on some sugar and go to bed early.

I beg to differ.... my sleeping pills actually make me feel exhausted the following morning. Sure, I get my 8 hours of sleep, but I still feel like I only got three hours, if not less, because of half a KnockedOutTillTheNextMorning-pill
