The british govt has introduced a mosquito device in towns and nears shopping malls:lol:Basically they emit a high pitched frequency sound that only youths (teens) can hear. Apparently this is to disperse them if they are in a group and stop them causing trouble. Any thoughts on this, personally i feel that youths in britain are starting to feel victimised.

Do you have a similar problem in your country, because in britain their is a big debate going on about yob culture and how to deal with it.

Too bad for those who are affected by it, fail for those who aren't.

Actually I feel like I should clarify about the mosquito device. It was brought in a few years ago by private shop owners to disperse crowds of youths, the government is now under pressure to ban it. Anyway the yob culture over here is pretty bad its just not a good idea to go out on a friday or saturday night as youll probably get stabbed and for some weird reason firemen are now getting attacked which is just plain ridiculous.

I think it is wrong. If They are doing something illegal - call the police. If they are not, just leave them be.

Yeah, I believe we are officially the single most watched and monitored country in the world. Not sure if its true but doesn't seem that far off. We apparently are watched more than people living under a dictatorship. Oh well especially with ID cards being inroduced I'm just glad that the government are so god at keeping all our personal details safe and never lose 8million bank details on a child benefit disc with no encryption just a password.

Apparently their are more cctv cameras in Britain than in the rest of Europe put together, dont know if this is true for a fact. But it shows the paranoia in this country.

I personally wouldn't call it good sense, more a massive infringement on civil liberties. It doesn't make us any safer it just makes it easier fot the government to hand out ASBOs which don't really do anything, besides rewarding yob culture with a badge of honor.

Yes it does make good sense i guess, a lot of troublemakers get caught on CCTV, it never ceases to amaze me when you see idiots holding up a store little knowing they are being viewed on camera. And they dont even bother to cover their faces.

I think the mosquito thing is a good idea, and people who disagree with it are being a bit silly... saying this device "isnt fair" is stupid, the people (generally teens) vandalising the area arent being fair either.

when part of a group is bad to you, you must punish the entire group. not exactly good logic.

Yes again you are right, where my brother works they call him ASBO as a nickname and he has never done anything:lol: the whole thing the govt has introduced is now seen as a joke.

Yeah but why waste a lot of police time if a short high pitched buzz can disperse a troublesome crowd? Makes sense to me...

Sometimes its not that easy, you can have peer pressure where some people are forced in to being part of a group. Like a lot of gangs for example.

If someone really doesnt want to do something, they wont do it. Besides, with the mosquito device, the worst that happens to them is a buzz that hurts their ears. If the police are called, they mighy end up being questioned by police... it justs seems so much simpler to deal with gangs of people like this than call the police out.

I certainly have nothing to hide from CCTV cameras but i still dont like them. I want to walk around with out feeling like someone is watching me, waiting for me to do something wrong so they can pounce on me. They don't make me feel any safer either, they don't seem to be much of a deterrent to people who are determined to commit crimes

In order to stop one bad gang of teenagers, lets get rid of all teenagers.

Yay for the logic there. :|

Personally i think its pretty unfair how the youth of Britain are ALL looked down upon. I have never done anything wrong and i generally try to be pretty nice to people, yet i get looks of disgust simply because im a teenager.I just despise the fact that im looked down upon by people for doing NOTHING wrong....and probably being nicer to people than alot of adults.

The people who were saying it is not fair were referring to the feeling of discomfort caused by the device. I think they are wrong by saying this, because the culprits are intimidating and scaring locals.

Obviously they should avoid targeting innocent youths but that is not always possible, police do the same thing. I have been told to move away from an area because other people of a similar age to me are misbehaving, even though I am not actually with those people.

But that is the problem with the mosquito it cant target certain individuals, besides a 34 year old has said he can hear it. People will find a way around it or just ignore it altogether.

But what about people who are under 25 and not yobs? I mean if they place it near stores then we're not going to be able to get in because of it LOL

It seems like an ok idea,it just means they will migrate to another place though,so solve one problem create another,i think the government should just put all yobs in the army, that will sort them out once and for all.

I don't really see how giving yobs training on how to kill and handing them guns will help in anyway? Other than making less of them.

Bit more to the army than that,it teaches them self-discipline more than anything.

I've experienced the same thing, though not being told by the police to go away. I'm not sure how it is in UK, however here where I live it is actually illegal to do so. Unless it is the cops and they have a valid reason.
