You are what you Sig?

So here goes. I've been told a few times by some users that they thought I was a girl because of my sig...and it confuses me. Not only is that clearly NOT a representation of an actual person but an actress/model ( which it is Ashley Tisdale...yay) My name should clue people in that I am indeed male. Althought I can understand the confusion seeing as how not every female here has a feminine name. Only the people who actually know me and or of me know that I'm a guy...when I use sigs like this. So my question to you all is this? Do you sometimes get mistaken for the opposite gender because of your sig material? Just curious. And is that a safe way to assume? I've seen some guys on here with very girly anime sigs....would never guess they were male unless I know them. Which most of them I do. :P
