Reverse psychology: it works.nick3333
lol....but im actually interested as well in knowing if you would be disqualified if they enforced the draft. Same with vision correction. I know there is a certain limit on how bad your vision is to be qualified to join.
A Marine recruiter just called my house (AGAIN). The last three times he has called me I just say "not interested," and hang up. However, this time I decided to answer all his questions and figured that if I just answered all his crap he would never call back. He started off asking me medical history (ever been unconscious, ever taken drugs, ever been on ADD medication, etc.), he then asked me if I'm asthmatic and since I am I said "yes." Once, I told him this he said "I'm sorry you have disqualified yourself from any sort of military participation" or something. So, apparently people with asthma can't join the military? WTF? Does this mean that even if there were a draft, purely hypothetical, that I'm not eligible???? I mean I'm okay with it considering I have absolutely no desire of joining any branch of the military, but I just find it odd.TheOT_KingYup they find it too troblesome to give some of thier soldiers abultrol and the others not i think it is the same thing if you happen to break your arm or something that you are also disqualified.
You would think at this time the military would bend some of its rules. They could use anyone they can get, as long as they have not killed anyone, are not missing any limbs and can shoot straight. Well, they might not might if someone has a criminal record at this point. Just drop them in the middle of Kabul and kill some baddies.videogamer456
Im thinking they would have but you might also remember the whole deal with the recruiter here in colorado telling a high school kid where to get detox to pass his UA and get into the military. The kid who did that news story was pretty good friends with my brother at my high school and now works for cnn or some major news network..but they might have enforced the rules a little more after that incident.

Yea, he asked me if I had broken any bones. I told him I had broken my toe before a few years back and he asked if it was fine now and I told him it is and he kept asking questions. So, if you have EVER broken your arm you're disqualified even though it has healed up?
Probably not. Especially the Marines, as a physical fitness test involves a 3 mile run.
Maybe the Navy or Air Force . . .

They are so desperate that I'm sure they would let you in.sonicare
Nope. My cousin tried to get in the Army, the Navy, the Air Force, the Marines.... pretty much everything except the Coast Guard. They had him at the recruiters office just about every day for about 4 or 5 months. He went out of his way to get his medical records and whatnot. They wouldn't let him in because he had taken ADD meds for a couple weeks when he was 11.
Did he ask you have severe your asthma was? I know a recruiter came to our band room (because band student make good students/players >_>) and told us that if we had severe asthma we could not join. My friend got all pissy about it, as if he was giong to join the army Serge-Chrono
He didn't ask how severe it was. He asked when was the last time I had an asthma attack was and I told him a few months back. After I told him a few months he said I was disqualified.

You should have added that in the first place instead of leading people on and making them believe you can't join if you have asthma. You can. You can do even the most strenuous jobs with it (there are SEALs with it), as long as it isn't severe.

If you break a bone, it grows back stronger.
You can't join the army if you're diabetic too.tehdiabetic
Well, duh. What good is a soldier who can slip into a coma because he has low blood sugar?
[QUOTE="DarkPrinceXC"]Yes, you can join the military if you have asthma. They have waivers for almost everything. xhellcatx*tackle hugs* WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN?! Sheesh. >_> There is beer in RC if you would like to join.
*hugs*. I've been hanging around. Busy with work lately. WTF IS RC?

Leading people on? I was asking a question. Besides having an asthma attack once every few months does not seem particularly severe to me... My asthma attacks are not really severe at all, like how some people have life threatening asthma attacks. My breathing just starts getting really heavy and I start taking bigger gasps of air... That's the most severe I've ever been...

I don't know your crazy abbreviations for things, but I'll come join you. Oh yeah, I have quite a few buddies in the military who have asthma. My old squad leader had asthma.... :P
