This website is in a rapid state of decline now that Greg, Rich, Bob, Carrie and Jeff have left. I mean, their reviews are of poor quality, the rating system has been beyond brutalized, burning questions is no longer, the quality of the hotspot has diminished, and the moderators have free reign over censorship. What's next? I've used this site as my main source of gaming news for quite some years now, and I can say that it has definitely seen better days. I miss when this site used to feel very personal as if you knew each and every staff member firsthand :(

It seems as though this site is moving more and more towards a corporate agenda as they continue to cater to the mainstream. In case you don't know why the beloved Jeff Gerstmann is gone rumor has it his termination is a result of external pressure from Eidos after he gave Kane & Lynch a mediocre score despite Eidos heavily advertising on Gamespot at the time. However, as it is still a rumor take it with a grain of salt. Though I wouldn't be surprised if the Gamespot execs are just as easy to buy off as politicians. I am curious as to what you the public thinks about this whole mess and you're opinion on Gamespot in this day and age. Do I stand alone in this thought, or are there others that feel the way I do?

Please realize this is merely my opinion and I do not want to start a flame war. You can get through to me by calmly expressing you're opinions! I will be going through each and every post to see what the community thinks.

There's a good chance this will be locked, but for what it's worth, I totally agree with you.

Capitalism is a conspiracy. I don't mean that sarcastically, think about it. Making money takes planning and collusion.

All major game reviews may be bought and paid for, this is just the tip of the iceberg.

I completely agree with you. It's called lobbying. On a more important note, this is what's wrong with our healthcare system and the country in general.

I agree, this website has become horrible and has lost it's personality. I only come here for the community (I use other sites for gaming information), but the community is becoming a trouble for me now too because of the censorship on the forums. It's almost sad really. The mods here are just pathetic, and I just can't stand it. I think I might leave soon, because there's hardly anything left for me.

i stopped using this site other than for the forums and occasional reviews a while ago. the psp news rarly gets updated, and if your a psp owner you know what i'm talking about, 3 weeks for a review most of the time. i just use Ign for reviews/news and gamespot for forums. seriously they rate psp games low, i know its an opinion but damn, like every game that has come out like Final Fantasy tactics has gotten lower than they deserve.

On another note, who is this chump Kevin Van Ord? He is dropping the ball on every single review... Giving Mass Effect an 8.5 and Assassins Creed a 9.0! I mean, it's like this guy never played a video game in his life... Seriously, just go read his reviews. He fails to mention many important topics in a lot of the games he goes over.

Honestly, I think changing the reviews back to .1 increments would help a whole lot. There's only 1 point of a difference between a 7.5 and an 8.5 game. It's not helping too much with the controversy, either. Gahh.. Gamespot is screwed.

Totally agreed, it's going down hill. And Keven van Ord is a good reviewer IMO, after playing Mass Effect I agree with the 8.5.

I guess it is a fair score. But not in relation to Assassins Creed. He never even said a word about the A.I. issues in Mass Effect. He proceeded to say about you're allies that "they never seem to get in your way, and they can hold their own in combat." And as much as I love the game, I highly disagree with that statement.

I haven't used GS for news for a while now. The only reason I'm here is because it has a good community and forums. GS is a laughable when it comes to delivering news and coverage (usually days old).

well if they post bad reviews then they actually have to be independant. which is hard to do on a major website (bandwith isnt cheap)

you all should konw better than to trust anything less than like minded user reveiws anyway. but then again avg age here is about 12.

I'm sorry, I made a mistake. The Hotspot has not been discontinued, but I believe it's quality isn't what it once was. Again, my mistake. Sorry for the error

Excuse me, but this topic isn't necissarily dedicated to Jeff. Yes, Jeff embodies everything I love about videogames, but if you actually take the time to read what I wrote you'll notice that this has more to do with Gamespot in general than Jeff's termination.

I did read it. & I highly doubt you would've made this thread if Jeff wasn't fired. It's jut that a lot of people need to stop whining & realise that GS isn't really to blame here.....my two cents.

But it doesn't need its own thread. You could have easily integrated this into the huge Jeff thread.

Who gives to flying shlts about those reviewers. I don't understand some ofyou kids how get so emotionally close tothe game reviewers heres when ultimately you should be the ultimate decider on what rating a game should get. Why puts so much faith behind one reviewer. c_smithii

I believbe that are not emotionally attached to the reviewers, but to the belief that Gamespot was not influenced so much as it is now revealed.
