An absolutely brilliant movie that's elegant, intriguing, and beautiful all at the same time.
One of Miyazaki's best, without a doubt. I thoroughly enjoyed every second of it.

I'm not going to let any of you finish because Castle in the Sky was the best Miyazaki film. I dunno Ponyo just seemed kinda creepy to me.
Lets just all agree that Ponyo was never made. I loved Castle in the sky as well. Awesome movie. Howls was also good, one of the few recent films that I can actually stand Christian Bales voice since it isnt all gravely. Ending is very weak compared to the rest of the filmI'm not going to let any of you finish because Castle in the Sky was the best Miyazaki film. I dunno Ponyo just seemed kinda creepy to me.

[QUOTE="bluetadomonk"]uhh no obviously perfect blue was better considering it was probably the inspiration for black swan SirWander
Satoshi Kon directed Perfect Blue
On that note, Paprika was better than anything Miyazaki ever did.
That and Tokyo Godfathers.
My list, because I know you all really give a *&*( 1. Howls. 2. Nausicaa 3. Princess Mon 4. Spirited Away 5. Ponyo 6. Castle in the Sky 7.Porco Rosso All of them are sublime though.I'm not going to let any of you finish because Castle in the Sky was the best Miyazaki film. I preferred Spirited Away and Howl's Moving Castle was good too.
I thought Ponyo was actually cute, but I'm a sucker for fairy tales. >_>
Spirited Away was my first Miyazaki film, and I've been hooked ever since.
In fact I might start watching anime if some of it is even remotely as good as Miyazaki's films. O____O
Why no love for Porco Rosso? :(mr_zombie60It had one of the weakest stories compared to the rest. That's probably why.
[QUOTE="Nibroc420"]Totoro > any other film in this thread. Who can deny Cat-bus being awesome?CaptainAhab13GAH! I gotta see that movie too. Then I think I'll have seen them all.
 You haven't seen Totoro? It's like the iconic figure of Studio Ghibli :P

I thought it was pretty funny though :( Cute characters too, heheh.

OMG YES!!!
Also, just gonna leave this here. :P

Yeah, I know. I just haven't gotten around to it yet. Next week I'll get back to you. ;)[QUOTE="Nibroc420"]Totoro > any other film in this thread. Who can deny Cat-bus being awesome?LostProphetFLCL

Hellz yeah! Totoro is the best!I thought Howl's moving castle was boring.
I loved the animation and the characters, but the overall story was executed poorly. He tried to convey his protest against Iraqi war with Howl's pacifist personality but ended up just wasting character potential. We ended up not really learning much about any of them. I don't care that he didn't copy the book but the alternative wasn't that great.
Animation-wise, I'd agree it was the best artwork his studio has ever done.
I have it on dvd :P But I think Howl's Walking Castle (yes, that's what my new sig and avy have in them) is better. An absolutely brilliant movie that's elegant, intriguing, and beautiful all at the same time.

I think you are wrong, sir! :evil:It's overrated garbage, like Miyazaki and all of his other films.

I agree, HMC had a lot of potential but ended up being a pretty disappointing film.I thought Howl's moving castle was boring.

It's a solid movie, enough that I'm having someone do a sig with that and Spirited Away in it, but it's a movie I can see someone disliking, it comes down to taste. Also, is there a big difference in quality between the Japanese and Miramax dub versions?
And now I'll go watch Castle in the Sky. Hopefully the Disney dub is decent, since that's the version I rented.
 I would've enjoyed one too. :PI thought it was rather disappointing. All those demon worms, and not one good scene with them?
