They really did a good job, for making their leader a black younger person, every person who is slightly non white will vote for obama, then there's the fact that he's young, so he's gonna win allot of young votes. then there's the whole "i hate bush" thing with so many switching to democratic just cause they hate bush, I really have to applaud the democratic party for choosing a young black Representative.

Meh; just about all pesidential candidates past and present are marketed to the public somehow. Just look at this whole 'Joe the Plumber' scenario.

are you kidding me? I've never been more disappointed with a political affiliation in my life. You have a candidate with as much as experience, and know-how as Bill Richardson. Instead you give me a three year senator, who may or may not know what he's going to be doing when he sits in the Oval Office. So far I'm less than impressed with what he's talked about, and his voting record.

His campaign financing is questionable at best, and he's had one of weakest campaigns to go up against with McCain/Palin. The democrats have let me down again, just like the Republicans. I can only hope that after the Obama spend-fest, the Republican party will go to being truly conservative, and get off this neo-con kick.

I give a lot of respect to Obama for running a great campaign. but i have to say that it's probably the republicans that have hurt themselves the most during the last 8 years that will win it for the Democrats.

All I have to say is that after all the dissent towards Bush, and spending $800,000,000 on the campaign, they had better win.

I'm pretty disappointed with both parties at this point and if I had my way we'd be moving towards a three party system by the end of november. Unfortunately, this ins't possible. However, seeing as how Obama's attempt to buy votes with deficit spending and wealth relocation is not only going to tank our economy, but lead us further down the slippery slope to socialism, I don't feel I can safely cast my vote in that direction.

Obama isn't really leading the honest campaign people believe (neither side ever does), but I do have to hand it to his organization. They've marketed him to a T. I'd be pleasently surprised to see him lose this election based on his campaign administration, his grassroots support, the horrible brand affiliation of the republican party, and the media fully backing, supporting, and promoting his run on office.

May God have mercy on our souls...

I don't want a black or a white President, I just want the best man for the job. That said, I feel excited for the country that a black man may become President, we've come a long way. I just wish I had more faith in THIS PARTICULAR black candidate.

My thoughts exactly. 8 years ago, I voted for John Mcain in the primary. Now, I probably will never vote republican. The party has gone into a strange place, and there needs for be more distinction with in the moderate conservatives. I just can't go as far to aling myself with a group supported by such right wing people seeing as I don't agree with their ideology.

I hear you. I gave McCain a couple bucks a number of years back. This year I gave Obama a few bucks and he gets my vote.

I can't say if they did it they'd have my vote but if the Republicans actually followed their own rhetoric it would help.

I'll believe it when I see it. Every election year there is the same prediction. "Youth are going to come out in record numbers." Every election year they have the same post election coverage story. "Voter turn out in younger demographics are horrible low."

funny you mention that, because that's how I feel towards Obama. I used to be a huge Obama fan years back. I thought he would make a great president someday. Just not this soon. I've read his book, and read numerous articles about him during that time. Now to see what has come about, and how my views have changed since he's run for president is pretty crazy.

If the democratic party doesn't win this election they should quit.. Everything has gone their way.. From the economy to Bush.. McCain has only made their job easier by having LITTLE difference between his policies and Bush's while at the same time choosing a nut that is even crazier then Bush to run with.. Bush at this time is at historical lows, below the worse presidents such as Nixon..

Again, we say things like, "less popular than Nixon" without regarding the fact that we don't have a real scale of mesure. Do you think Bush is less popular than Hoover? We really can't make a claim either way although we can certainly speculate. Now, I don't make claims that Nixon was popular, but I find it hard to understand how we can eat up these claims without a solid means of comparison. We also don't even bring up the topic of effectiveness for discussion.

It's a shame that the American public is lead around on leashes, myself included.

There are too many variables to draw any logical conclusions. There is no scalability or basis for comparison.

I'd love to see some documentation on this...

Obama's economic plans go against market forces. McCain's platforms are all hinged on allowing market forces to stabalize the situation.

Example, Obama is going to push healthcare policies provided through employers. McCain is going to encourage policies to be bought in the free market. Obama's plans tie hard working americans to deadend jobs and forces employers to move their production elsewhere. McCain's healthcare plan lowers the cost of operating a US based factory and uses real free competition to regulate the price of insurance.

Because just today during his speech, Obama said: If you make less than 250k a year, you will not see 1 penny more in taxes. And the middle class will get tax breaks. How are we going to afford this? We are going to make the people making over 250k pay for it.

That is absoluetly rediculous. Making other people pay for other people. Spreading the wealth around. Obama also said "by asking the people who make over 250k to pay for the less wealthy benefits everybody". First of all, he is not asking.. he is demanding and forcing. Secondly, it will not benefit everybody. It will indirectly hurt everybody.

I remeber people saying he going to be a good president cause he's the kinda guy you can have a beer with.

Obama and Bush are both good people. It seems you can get a long with them real well. They both suck as presidents though [Obama's economic plan sucks and it seems like he'll be the new prez.]

How does Obama's economic plan exactly suck? Just curious but the vast majority of economist as a consensus have agreed that Obama's plan is much better then McCain's.. Is McCain's plan just dismal as well?

Because just today during his speech, Obama said: If you make less than 250k a year, you will not see 1 penny more in taxes. And the middle class will get tax breaks. How are we going to afford this? We are going to make the people making over 250k pay for it.

It would be like microsoft taking gamer points and giving them to people who play an hour a week. Achievements don't mean as much, so people aren't driven to complete them like they are. The games like "pretty pony's pansy party" now have zero appeal and xbox developers can't make money.

There is no more motivation to be successful. The more successful you are, the more you're going to get pounded in april and the more motivation you have to work in fast food for pennies, get under the table jobs, and rely on the government to provide. eventually nobody is really driving the economy forward and it collapses.

It will give the false sense of entitlement. Lowering our work ethic, ambition, and overall determination.

If it hurts any americans it should be seen as bad. However, the continued reliance on government support breeds indifference in constituants encourages a self fulfilling prophacy in americans below the poverty level.
