you have a half empty fire extenquisher and a loaded pistol behind you, would you try to put the fire out and have a chance of failing, and if you sucseded s/he would be living with terrible and highly painful burns for a very long time, or would you shoot him and put him out of his pain and suffering in the longrun.

OT dosen't normaly get this deep, sorry if this is hard

A half empty fire extinguisher is more than enough to extinguish a person engulfed in flames.

Fire extinguisher of course. A half-empty fire extinguisher should still be able to put out a person-sized fire.

I'd use the fire extinguisher because who knows, maybe that person has a chance of recovering and not being paralyzed or whatever. I couldn't bare to kill my best friend.

ok...ignoreing that bit, where does the guesswork come from, your best friend is on fire, not one or two of your best friends...there should be little guesswork envolved

Why would this even be asked as though it were a question? I'd try to save him. I can't even imagine ever trying to kill my best friend for any reason, and if there is even a chance that I could save her, I would try as hard as I could.

I would never kill someone or something unless I had exhausted every other possible method of keeping them from suffering. Unless of course they asked me to.

I'd use up the fire extinguisher and if the friend is still on fire (albeit less now) throw the empty container at them to knock em down and use my top to smother the rest of the flames then call 911.

even if that person didnt know, shouldnt he just pee on the best friend anyway. i wouldn't punch someone on fire. It'd be painful towards me.
