Maturity is having an understanding of when to be fun-loving versus when to be serious, and then having the self-control to be able to follow that.

Maturity isn't acting like a professional adult all the time like some people think. It's simply knowing when to act like that, and when it's alright to act immature. That may be an over-simplification, but I think it's an effective enough definition.

I'd say my explination is just as viable in maturity. Tolerance for other people would be a sign of maturity.

If everyone waited for everyone else to mature, we would be in a world filled with even more *******s than our's currently is. Someone has to take the initiative to grow up and set an example.

I didn't say it was. I said "respect" not accept. As for a place like this,it's obvious you're going to discuss and disagree, but in real life,it's mature to not throw your opinion around to people who don't wish to hear it.

There isn't any actual thing called maturity, what your thinking of is being influenced enough by your surroundings (generally your social setting i.e. school, work place) to instinctively act as most people socially act around you. Age techincally doesn't have anything to do with it, if you put a four year old in a fourty year old work place, and he had no prior social interaction/influence with phases and kids his age, he'd naturally adapt to how most people around him are acting.

Again, your making an example in which someone is being harmed without speaking out. While I simply am stating it's not mature to throw your opinion around like it's law. That goes both ways, and King spoke agains't those that were doing as such. Defending yourself and your people is different than respecting other peoples opinions.

Maturity to me is the ability to look at society as a whole and see its flaws. Maturity can also be when a person stops acting like a child, but I hate when a person "grows up" to the point where they can't joke around in a silly way any more. A people who becomes haughty, and brags about their so-called "maturity" is not a mature person in my mind.

There is no set date for maturity; it evolves and continues until death. I'd say simply that maturity is coming to terms with life, what it entails, and how one learns how to deal with it through experience. Immaturity is a combination of ignorance, naivete, and a lack of experience. Different levels of maturity exist all over the place for different people.

If I was going to list the characteristics of a mature person, they would be: humbleness, compassion, sincerity, honesty, integrity, empathy, and someone who realizes as they get older that they don't know jack ****.

The exact opposite of this kid I know. I wont go into detail, but he still says 'doodle', he's 15 and his voice is higher than a 9 year old girls, I believe he was spoilt and doesnt like it when things dont go his way, often kicking a person up the rear when they say something about him or for no apparent reason.

There's really no such thing as maturity. It's really just an opinion decided by each culture. Other than physiologically, being considered mature usually incudes a collection of institutional moral values and intelligence, again varying by the culture....The way we concider maturity really has no right or wrong because there is no official constitution of being a humas somewhere that says what exactly it means to be mature....Physically we became the way we are through evolution and passed down cultural traditions. Anyway I personally don't like ther term because it implys someone is better than someone without "it"....Oh whatever, the whole thing is so mind bending but you get what I mean.

Maturity includes:

Typing words with the correct spelling and with proper English.

Being able to control your temper and realize what is a suitable topic to discuss.

Having well manners.

..and those are the main things that come to mind.
