by "epic" i mean, considerably long, deep meaningful lyrics, powerful guitar, etc, etc...

for one, Bohemian Rhapsody is the most epic song ever! Some say its over-rated/played, but, w.e to each his/her own.

a lot of people dislike green day on here, pop-punk in general, but i like them. their song "Jesus of Suberbia" is 9 min of rocking out!

recently I've discovered Muse, and Knights of Cydonia is probably the best song I've heard to date, MUSE RULE!!

This. Most Maiden songs are freaking epic, which is why they're so awesome!

Exactly. Rime is just epic beyond words, especially since its based on an epic.

Doesn't have any lyrics, but Camille Saint-Saens' "Dance Macabre" is absolutely beautiful. It's probably my favorite piece of classical music.

No epic songs has words in them. Maybe on Latin but.. You got my point. I fail to see how some popular 80's drugmusic would be "epic" :C

I like alot of new music, including rap, but I definitely wouldn't call it epic. Mainly because of the violent lyrics. These however are what I consider epic... U2: I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For Collective Soul: December Lillian Axe: The Day that I Met You Phil Collins: In the Air Tonight Oasis: Wonderwall Led Zeppelin: Stairway to Heaven Kid Rock: Only God Knows Why Guns N' Roses: Sweet Child O' Mine / November Rain / Knockin' on Heavens Door Eric Clapton: Would You Know my Name Randy Travis: Angels Among Us Shinedown: Shed Some Light I can't remember anymore at the moment....

I thought of a couple more... Lynard Skynard: Simple Man Mr. Mister: Broken Wings I'm sure that I'll think of some more, but gamespot is REALLY slow at the moment, so I'm signing off until tonight....

Movie soundtracks are usually the best. Namely Braveheart, Crimson Tide, Last of the Mohicans and The Patriot, to pick a few.

If by epic you mean pieces that make your hair stand up, then these are definitely epic. (Note: turn on your subwoofer and crank the volume up, it won't disappoint).

Mahler's 8th ending
Mahler's 2nd ending (stick with it)
Sibelius' 2nd (about at 5:45) to the end 2|3
Camille Saint-Saens 3rd
Beethoven's 5th 4th movement
Mozart's Requiem Introitus and Kyrie-Dies irae-Confutatis and Lacrimosa

Berlioz's Requiem
