Do Foo Fighters and Alter Bridge really qualify as supergroups?

As for me:

1.) Temple of the Dog

2.) Mad Season

3.) Pearl Jam (I'm not sure this counts though)

Annnnddddd...that's about it.

Thats a nice choice.  Postal Service make some good tunes- ya their lyrics are a little too sappy.   I still feel like they are a stronger band than "Death Cab."

I think they're definitely a better band than Death Cab. It's kinda frustrating to me that The Postal Service are so insistent that they're done forever because I'd much rather have another TPS album than another DCFC album. Blah.

A supergroup is a band made up of members from other well known bands that can last a short period of time or last years. Cream made 4 albums together in 3 years before Eric Clapton went on to have a successful long term solo career. Bad Company has made 12 albums over 22 years (not counting live albums or compilations).

I haven't really listened to many supergroups and the only one I've really liked in recent years is Tired Pony, who will be relasing their second album next week. The only reasons I like them are because they are fronted by Snow Patrol lead singer Gary Lightbody who is a great songwriter and R.E.M.'s Peter Buck who is a fantastic and one of my all-time favourite guitarists. I have to say if their first album is anything to go by I'm really looking forward ot their next one :)
