Mine has to be The Sound of The Smiths. Yes, The Smiths have been gone for a fair while; but this compilation of their best songs is simply amazing. Luckily for me I got the last Deluxe Edition on the shelf at HMV, which comes with 22 more songs than the standard edition. About 45 songs for 15pound, that sounds fair to me. I'm mainly into rock (and many rock-related genres, such as thrash, metal and all that). What music are you into, and what is your album of the year?

Don't fool yourself, it is not amazing. It's average at best.

They started solo-ing again. Jim is much more talented than Mick from the songs I've heard.

Third by Portishead is my favorite, and i've heard a lot from this year. I'm listening to Fleet Foxes right now and it's epic, but not as much as Third.

Is The Rip your favorite track by any chance? I found myself listening to that song over and over again. It's hard to pick just one as my favorite. Someone asked me in another thread and I ended up listing almost every song. :P The Rip was one of those songs.
