I have a few that I tend to stick to apart from the usual cut/copy/paste/undo/redo/select all... please educate me on some other useful ones

Browser

CTRL + T = open new browser tab

CTRL + W = close browser tab

CTRL + SHIFT + T = open last closed browser tab (handy!)

Mouse

MIDDLE CLICK ON LINK = open in new window (doesn't work on Javascript links)

DOUBLE LEFT CLICK A WORD = highlight whole word at a time

Cursor

SHIFT + LEFT/RIGHT ARROWS = highlight one character at a time

CTRL + SHIFT + LEFT/RIGHT ARROWS = highlight whole word at a time

CTRL + LEFT/RIGHT ARROWS = skip whole word at a time

F5 is good, especially when having a conversation in a thread here on GS. :P Tabbing shortcuts are a must, too.

Backspace to go back a page Seraphy-
Underrated shortcut. Backspace is light years better than hitting the browser's "Back" button. Same with F5 for refresh.

[QUOTE="Seraphy-"] Backspace to go back a page Nicksonman

Underrated shortcut. Backspace is light years better than hitting the browser's "Back" button. Same with F5 for refresh.

I just use the back button on my mouse, which is much easier than both. But I suppose most people have standard mice. As much as people might think of it as an unneeded luxury, having a nice mouse really can make things much easier in a variety of different programs.

As far as keyboard shortcuts go, you pretty much named all of the ones I use for web browsing. I guess I use alt+f4 sometimes, but usually I'll just click on the X at the top right of the browser. Does control+shift+escape count if I only use it to close Firefox when it doesn't respond?

edit: I just thought of something. Sometimes I use control + scroll wheel up/down to zoom in and out of pages.

For some reason my middle click doesn't work to open links anymore, so I have to hold ctrl and click. Also in Google Chrome if you have something highlighted you can right click "search on google". It is super helpful, saves a lot of typing.

It can be done in Opera as well. Heck, Opera probably introduced this feature.

Opera has introduced a few things. Smart browser, but low market share, unfortunately.

Very unfortunate indeed. Chrome and Firefox have taken their fair share of inspiration from Opera as far as I recall.
