Some of my favourites:

The Blade Runner - stunning cinematography and well paced.

Alien - the tension is built up well. More of a horror flick but certainly does not fail to deliver the eerieness of outer space.

Starship Troopers - ALIEN GO BOOM. YAAY!!!

2001: A Space Odyssey. - probably the greatest use of music in a movie. Masterfully directed by the master of direction, with the most subtle story-telling ever. >.>

Now it's your turn.

This is the problem with movies. Evidently, they haven't been around long enough if everyone keeps choosing the same ones!

You most certainly should It's my second favorite Andrei Tarkovsky film. Such complicated and beautiful film but so slow and yet so tense.

Do you people enjoy the films you choose because of the story that's being told, or is it because of the visuals?

Story is vital, though it's cliche to say you like something because the story is teh awesome. If you didn't like the story, then you most likely wouldn't like the movie; it's kind of redundant. Also, you chose Transformers 2. >_>

Did you read the book to Blade Runner? The filmmakers kinda of butchered the story that Philip Dick had created. Or at the very least, they took it off on their own rough version.

:) But don't you see the complex symbolism and thematic elements that Michael Bay spread throughout? ;)

True, but they decided to exclude certain elements that I thought were important. Namely, the whole animal/animoid aspect, it's only touched upon a little bit in the movie. But there are some things I think the movie did alot better, and that is the atmosphere, and the ending (big time).
