My first day of work was picking strawberries on a local farm. Let's say that I was very slow and very tired but I did so much better a few weeks later.
Well my first official day working at Target was just orientation for a few hours i.e. walking around the store, meeting the LODs, filling out any paperwork, watching "fun" videos.
My actual first day of working on the salesfloor was pretty hectic: trying to familarize yourself with the store layout, answering customer calls, keeping your designated area clean and organized, and then people coming up to you and asking where a certain section or product was located. It was still fun though, I didn't have any aggravated guests.
In my lifetime I've only had three jobs.
My first one at 16 was working at a swimming pool on the bad side of Atlanta. All we had to do was take people's clothes so they could swim and it was pretty painless.
My second job which was also at 16 was working at McDonald's. I started working when McDonald's was doing a promotion where you can buy a hamburger for 29 cents and a cheeseburger at 39 cents. Needless to say, it was a lot of hard work, with the occasional class on making a Big Mac.
My third and current job was in the Army. I had several first days, such as my first day of reception (a bunch of needles for vaccines and a haircut), my first day of basic training (a lot of yelling and exercise), and my first day at each new unit I was assigned to (meeting new leadership).
First day is usually boring paper work, walking around and meeting employees, and orientation. Usually kind of boring.
my first job was working at a Christmas tree farm when I was 14. It was only for a month, but it was fun, hard, and physical and really sort of determined the kind of work I like (hands on, physical). My first day I showed up at like 7am, unpacked the trees from the U-Haul, learned how to work a chainsaw, trimmed the trunks, mounted them on stands, and helped carry trees to people's cars. I went home sweaty, cold, dirty, and covered in sap but it was awesome.
My first real job (as in taxed, regular, etc) was as a dishwasher at a cooking school sort of deal. It was pretty crappy because, hey, its dishwashing, but the pace was slow and the people (well, the cooks) were really cool. Basically a bunch of Mom's who were chefs prior to being moms decided to teach people how to cook, so naturally they loved me (I Was in high school, 15-18 years old, footbal player, etc) and I got to help out with cooking and stuff too prior to class.

ugh, what job do you work? Ive been lucky enough to never have to do that
I want that job. Target is my favorite store..Well my first official day working at Target was just orientation for a few hours i.e. walking around the store, meeting the LODs, filling out any paperwork, watching "fun" videos.

It was at Baskin Robbins a couple years back. The first two days were orientation, which composed of watching boring movies, filling out paper work, learning some of the simpler techniques, etc. Then you know, scooping ice cream and making junk.
My first paid work was as a temporary receptionist at a British high commission, I won't say which one. It was pretty bad, although I did enjoy turning away people who'd travelled across the country to sort out a passport issue only to arrive after 3 pm. Come back tomorrow, chumps!
I work in a grocery store. I fill the racks with stuff, load and unload trucks and other stuff. It's not too bad and my hourly wage isn't too bad either. (yes still working there)
My first day of work was spent doing meaningless paper work and job shadowing my employer at a lawyer's office. It wasn't an official day of work but I still got paid $50 to show up :P
Whilst I had done a few shifts at another store, the first shift I did at my current store was eventful.
It was New Years Eve 2005. I gt a call up at 3 asking my to work 6-10 at the Macathur store. I agreed and, seeing as I had to get a lift with my dad, got there at 5:30. When I walked in the service manager said I wasn't supposed to be there, but I was supposed to be at the Town store. My mobile was dead and I couldn't remember my dad's mobile number, so I had to ring my mum up using the work phone. She then had to call my dad and tell him to pick me up, which was hard as she had laringitus at the time. Dad drove me to the Town store where I just made it, I walked up to the service desk and they had no idea why I was there. They ended up calling the duty manager over who told me I was in deli. I had never worked in deli before, however I had done such a great job I got transfered over to that store and have been working there ever since.
