What's the longest video game marathon you've ever been on? I ask because last night I played Resident Evil 5 non-stop with a friend, start to finish, for 16 hours (5 pm - 9 am). It was almost literally nonstop. Over the 16 hours we didn't play for only about 30-45 minutes (dinner + bathroom breaks).

But I'm sure it pails in comparison to some Gamespotters' video game marathons.

Right after my graduation from High School I really felt like I needed a change of pace. After all, in just a couple months I'd be entering an entirely different world from the one I had experienced before. I just wanted to reset myself; clean the cobwebs out, if you will. So I played Oblivion for 72 hours straight with breaks only for water and the restroom. Maybe not the best idea, but it worked.

used to spend a good 10 or 11 hours a day playing network races of GTR2 with my ex-housemate last year, from the early afternoon until the late evening, interspersed with drinking cider and popping to the shop for salted snack goodness. amazing times.

on my own, probably some sort of all-day Final Fantasy VII or VIII sesh.

I used to play the Sims literally all day with only short breaks to use the bathroom, to get a drink, or to eat a brief meal back when I was 10-14 years old or so. In more recent times, I had about a ten hour long marathon of Left 4 Dead right after it was released... :)

I poured so much of my life into Morrowind and its expansions it was nuts. Over the summer of '03 if I wasn't asleep I was playing the game. Great game though.

fallout 3 for 14 hours in one day. the only other marathons that come close were 8 hours of oblivion every day for 5 days straight or 4 hours of cod4 every day for 2 months. other top condenters are wow for about 6 hours every day during the free month and tloz: a link to the past completed in one sitting.

Back in my WoW days, I played for 8 hours straight. Over a year and a half, WoW ate 40 days of my life.

I'm an older gamer so here's goes: I've played many games for the Master System but the two games I played for a long time in one setting were Choplifter and Hang-On. I also played Donkey Kong on the NES, and Super Off Road on the Sega Genesis each at different times for who knows how many hours as these games never end. The games go on and on until the user gives up or just stops playing. I would say I played for 8 to 12 hours on average per game.

WWE Smackdown: Here Comes the Pain Up until the SvsR game that came out a couple years ago, which sucked so hard that i couldn't play it, I've always been a total beast at wrestling games since Wrestlemania: the Arcade Game and WCW vs the World. I've been kicking my friend's ass for years. One day, we were at a friend's house, and he basically said "i challenge you...we will play non-stop until I manage to beat you." Excluding bathroom breaks and a brief 20 minute dinner break, it took him no less than 16 hours to finally get a win against. By that point, I was so tired that I was playing with one hand with my eyes closed half the time with a character i never use (bear i mind that i won the two matches prior playing in this fashion....but they sure were nail-biters!)

My longest WoW marathon was 3 days straight (taking around 2 hour break in total for bathroom / making food in the microwave)

Addictions can be scary (this was vanilla wow) =)

The weekend Halo 3 was released I got two freinds to come over and we played through the whole campaign non stop for 12 hours (the reason it took so long was because during the final warthog sequence, we got into a compitition of trying to make the other one fail and it took 2 hours to complete). After that we played the multiplayer for another 8 hours, then watched all 3 final destination movies in a row.

I played Animal Crossing on the gamecube for about 7 hours on the first day. And back when I first got the N64, I played Mario Kart 64 for several hours.

I don't know about a marathon, but I can recall I used to play KOTOR from 2:00pm to about 4:30am for about a week (Meal and bathroom breaks included of course).

I have no idea. It was just a lifestyle for me for a long time. I probably did pretty bad with Civ III back in Middle School and I know I used to spend all day on Battlefield 2.

Erm, 7 or 8 hours on Gunz Online, long time ago, one time. 6 hours on WarRock, one time. I would never play 10 hours or more on a videogame, but one of my friends have played Kingdom Hearts II at my house for 12 hours straight, going from the start, to the beginning of the Pirates of Caribbean world.

Sweet, 2k arena rating also. nice to see a fellow lock :)

my guild was also #80 illidan kill, we were #1 guild on our srvr and i was lock lead, so i was best geared lock and best 5v5 team on srvr.. so when i said " i'm kind of a big deal around here " in trade chat.. i meant it and ppl knew it. but our guild died last april, and thats when i quit.. i'm actually pretty happy i quit.. i enjoy real life much more now, and no guild i couldve transfered to wouldve ever replaced the guild i was in, not only in skill i mean, but the relationship i had with my guildies.

Before Halo 2 came out, some friends and I had a Halo 1 LAN multiplayer party for a couple hours. Then while some friends went to the Halo 2 launch, I played through the entire Halo campain with a buddy. After that we had a Halo 2 LAN party. It was freakin' awesome.8)

Wow 80th, i managed to clear sunwell on the lock, but we was nowhere near the top 100, not even number 1 on the server.

And i know what you mean about your relationship with your guildies, i've been in my guild for over 3 years, and if it ever died i could never join a new one.

But i think we've gone slightly off-topic here :P
