So what's your view on Chinese? IMO it's horrible, I used to have a Chinese accent and still has a little, I just can't stand my voice.

Not as bad as the Cuban people accent. I can't understand the Cuban Spanish accent.

I'm rather fond of it myself although I must say I find the "sher sher" accent that the Mandarin language has to be a little cuter than the lingering vowel sounds of Cantonese.

I never spoke Chinese as a kid (both my parents are from Hong Kong) but being around my Chinese relatives and watching old 80s Jackie Chan Hong Kong movies I find Canto funny. Angry-sounding, most of the time, but still funny.

I don't know whether you mean when they speak Chinese or English. For English, I've never really cared. I was just happy they were speaking English. But in Chinese? They sound like they're always complaining....and usually are, anyway. Though its even better in Shaanxi- it always sounds like they're yelling.

My cantonese is absolutely horrendous. My mom, despite having a very limited command of english didn't teach me much cantonese and as such I can only understand it and can't speak it at all. If I try to speak it, it comes out with a horrible accent all totally mispronounced. That being said since I can understand cantonese, I don't really notice the "angry" accent that alot of other people say they hear when they listen to people speaking cantonese.

For mandarin on the other hand, for some reason I'm really not fond of it. Its probably because I've had a run in with some very obnoxious mandarin speakers but I can't say I'm a fan. It also may be because I can only understand a few phrases of mandarin as well.

I don't really like their accent, and I find their language 'loud'. Growing up in a Japanese speaking environment, I may be biased, but I prefer Japanese and Korean language/accent.

When speaking English of course, just find it hard to take.

It really depends. Some Chinese people have really nice accents... especially when they speak Mandarin. Mainly girls, though. It's softer.

When someone has a really thick Chinese accent I have a really hard time understanding them. It's really one of the very few accents I struggle with. Thankfully there's not too many people who have a chinese accent that thick.

Rofl, for some reason I thought I was the only one who noticed this.. I definitely think mandarin sounds better than Cantonese >.> My girlfriend and her family speak cantonese all the time... not exactly the most charming experiences of my life.

It's annoying, but I only find it annoying because my neighbor has one.

She complains about everything..
