First half and hour was boring but then it picked up and was pretty good.jharv
Same here, and mostly because you didn't really get to see the creature.
i want to see it and its out today i think. what did you think of itag3ntz3rox0x
I don't think its worth seeing on DVD unless you have an amazing entertainment system. The whole appeal of the movie is the atmosphere and experience of it all.... You just can't get that out of a 30" stereo TV. It might be possible with a big TV and surround sound, though. I'd suggest hitting up a dollar theater or something if you want to see it.

you know though the fact that it's filmed with a hand-held though makes it feel more real to me on a tv. I had the same issue with the Blair Witch Project. If this is some film that was supposedly hard to find and filled with evil why the heck is it on a movie screen. Being in a movie theater kind of took me out of the "this is a home movie" feel.

You've got a point, though I was more into the "I'm actually there" feeling when I saw it, not really the "this is a home movie" thing. Having such a big screen drowned out the fact that I was in a theater, since all I could see was the screen. It probably helped that I was sitting closer than I usually do both times I saw it.

Ooh, I would have liked to feel like I was actually there. That probably would have made it much more frightening as opposed to thinking this was a document of something that's already happened.

As soon as the action started, I was tense for the rest of the movie. After it was over, I just kind of relaxed and said it was the most intense and awesome movie I've ever seen. Not one of the six other people I was with agreed with me.

Yeah, I enjoyed the movie from a perspective that it was an interesting documentary but I would have enjoyed much more thinking it was a live news event.
Best large-monster movie ever. And that includes all the Godzillas and King Kongs.
Awesome acting
Awesome monster
Awesome cinematography (shaky cam bugs some, but I like it)

I basically have the opposite feeling of everything you said, I enjoyed The Mist a lot more
I don't get people who complain of motion sickness and then somehow hold it against the film.
As for Cloverfield...didn't see it. Never interested me.

Good movie, I hated the ending Plot hole_Olimar
ya i was kinda wondering about that
*SPOILER*
my friend is an extremely high-hoping optimistic guy and he said that they just dropped conventional bombs and the tunnel collapsed around them, but they were eventually rescued.
I say a nuke was dropped (I mean it was called "Hammer Down"...sounds like an extreme thing) and they all died but the camera survived because it was buried under yards and yards of concrete and dirt.

Thats why the second half sucked. I wish they would've never shown what the monster looked like in detail. I liked it when there was some mystery, some suspense, some ignorance as to what the creature ACTUALLY was (which, to give them some credit, they did a pretty good job of for the most part). It forced you to pay attention and made you pour over every frame trying to get a glimpse of the monster. I remember times when the camera was shaking or tilted at a awkward angle that I would actually tilt my head and shift in my seat trying to get a better 'angle' so I could see the monster better. The mystery was what made the movie interesting...it was the basis for the entire viral campaign. And then what do they do? Give us an up close, daytime shot of the monster to completely destroy my imagination and suspense. Its the same reason every 'Saw' movie besides the first one were absolute atrocities and insults to movie making and storytelling. And thats why movies like the Illusionist are god-damned amazing. They didn't have to explain how everything was done, hell there was almost no explanation, but the sense of mystery makes me want to go back and watch it again and again to see if I can't glean a bit more out of the storyline.
Thats why what could've been a pretty epic movie turned into a one-time-see action flick. I enjoyed it, don't get me wrong, but I have no reason to see it again.
