Now I have a feeling many people have done a topic like this, but I really want to see everyone's taste in music in the gaming community. As for me, my musical taste is....very diverse. From extremely loud bands like BMTH and TDWP, to catchy Jpop/rock like Asian Kung-Fu Generation. I generally don't listen to rap or hip hop, but when I do I usually listen to a guy named Jin. I was also quite a fan of Linkin Park a few years back. I also love Techno, or Electronica like Innnerpartysystem. And next, I s**t you not, pop. No not that crappy pop everyone talks about. More stuff like Kpop, as I have a song or two by SNSD/Girls' Generation if anyone has heard of them. Then there's the classics. Nobody IMO, and I mean NOBODY has anything on The Beatles. They are simply the best. Again, IMO. I also have metal, like Iron Maiden. I also kinda like AC/DC as well. I could go on for quite some time on this, so what do YOU listen to?

Yeh, heard of SNSD but never really listened to a lot of asian music. I'm mainly into RnB and some mainstream stuff.

I generally listen to a couple good songs frommost genres a day, say,go from Heavy Metal to soft, 80's techno ballads.I never listen to Jazz or anything earlier than the 1970's. I'd say my taste is varied.

I listen to way too many things to mention. Music is just too good to be pretentious and judging about. Crap is crap, but good is just, well, good ... in any genre.

Aracade Fire, Al Green, Amon Amarth, A Perfect Circle, Aphex Twin, Aretha Franklin, Band of Horses, Bauhaus, Bjork, Chopin, Death Cab, Deftones, Dr. Octogon, Fear Factory, Floater, Foo Fighters, J-Cole, Jay-Z, Jimi Hendrix

Thats just a small percentage of my library, in alphabetical order ...

I'm huge on classic rock and prog rock. I can be a bit elitist when it comes to music, but I can't help it that some forms of music are much better than others... :P

Favorite artists include (in alphabetical order as I scroll through my collection) Alice in Chains, Beardfish, Black Sabbath, Dave Matthews Band, Dire Straits, Eric Clapton, Genesis, Jimi Hendrix, Joe Satriani, Joe Walsh, John Mayer, Johnny Winter, Kansas, Mutemath, Oingo Boingo, Pink Floyd, Phish, Poets of the Fall, Robert Randolph and the Family Band, Rush, Steely Dan, Stevie Ray Vaughan, The Jeff Healey Band, The Who, and ZZ Top. I'm jammin' to Joe Walsh as I type this.

Pretty much anything rock by a legendary artist/band:

  • Black Sabbath
  • Metallica
  • Dire Straits
  • Slayer
  • Guns 'N' Roses
  • Poison
  • Santana

Just to name a few...

Also, I don't actually mind a bit of hip hop and rap, but only the old stuff - think NWA, D12, Wu-Tang Clan, etc. Overall, though, Xzibit is my favourite rapper, followed by Eminem and T.I.

I'm a big fan of so many types of music its hard to think of them all but lets see... i love Slavic music it the music of my country so even if I didn't like it i'd be pretty much forced to listen to it on the radio anyways lol thats alot of stuff like Serbian rock, Croatian folk and hip hop and stuff like that. I love older rock not a big fan of the newer stuff and popular bands I don't really follow but my music is mainly classick rock, I like some jazz, stuff from the 50's like doo-wop, reggaeton, older hip hop and some new stuff if it aint too commercialized.

I think I hit most of it xD

Metal, with an emphasis on Death Metal, and particularily melodic death metal and lately old school death metal.

Favorite bands atm. Possessed, Autopsy, Obituary, Deicide, Death, Morbid Angel, Amon Amarth, Hypocrisy, Vader, Rotting Christ, Hooded Menace, Acid Witch, Gorguts...lots of others I'm too lazy to name.

But I bought servered survival the other day, and the entire 2 hour car trip I had home (visting a few friends for the weekend) I played nothing but that new CD, and right now I think I'm on my third or fourth run through of Possessed's awesome CD Seven Churches.

Ack. Basically long droning guitars and noisy sounds, and voices that tried to blend in with the songs. It's pretty unique sounding. Crappy description, just youtube shoegaze music and some interesting stuff comes up.

I pretty much listen to everything except for metal these days with most of my time typically being devoted to classical, jazz and all those pesky sub-genres that fall under the big ol' alternative rock umbrella.

A big dollop of orchestrated soundtracks and then a few spoonfuls of rap, country, rock, pop and electronic. I don't have a particular love for any one genre, I just have some artists and songs I like from each.

I like a lot of genres, from jazz, classical, old school rock, techno and even some Lady Gaga songs. But my favorite genre gets blanketed as metal, especially folk metal, black metal, gothic metal, industrial metal, nu-metal and death metal as long as it's not American.

There are a lot of types of music I really enjoy. In terms of pop music, I tend to love the catchy sorts of stuff from they came out with in the 1980s and J-Pop and just electronic dance music in general. I can also really like metal, and it can serve me especially well when I'm feeling angsty. I can really enjoy listening to instrumental music, especially stuff with xylophones and harps, and just closing my eyes and letting the music create beautiful images in my mind. I think that celtic music can be some of the most gorgeous sounding music in the world, and Enya's work specifically is so sublime I usually don't even let myself listen to her. I love a lot of soundtracks, especially ones from video games, anime, and musicals. There's more that I like, but those are kinda the main ones.

As far as music I don't like, I gotta say I'm not generally a fan of country. And while I do like various types of metal, death metal tends to be a little bit...much for me. I also can't stand most of the stuff that was recorded any time from the 1920s through the 1960s - and that includes crooners, old timey showtunes, and at least a couple of those rock and roll bands so many people seem to love so much.
