Wow, very nice of them to do that :D Almost every teenager nowadays shakes the weasel way too often, mainly due to the Internet. Google or other search engines could do stuff like introducing a message that appears only if it detects the ISP to be chinese. It would post a message such as "Sorry mate, you're chinese, no pornographic content allowed". Then again, the smarter teenagers could engage the onion router or any other proxy and avoid filtering. Personally I agree with China.

It sounds bad too the chinese people and i'm a big fan of internet freedom but in this case it may be a good thing and if China didn't do it the western world would have a much harder job combatting paedophillia because we all know that China has child labor i wouldn't be surprised that if the ban was lifted if some went into the porn industry as they could sell directly with no competition leading to huge earnings.

I don't think you realise how strong a hold they have on the internet, the goverment basically runs the ISPs so proxies don't work as the same information is still sent down the link effectively it just uses a different url to get to the same site. The only way you could bypass it is with something like google cache but i'm betting the goverment have already blocked it.

I meant it as in, the Cold War is over, get over it. It's another country, what they do is none of our business unless it jepordizes our security. And America is over-sexed. It's about time someone put a law against it.

Well the United States has a government to enact such a law and a military to enforce it (it will never happen...). And you're acting hypocritical: first you say that porn is part of our human rights, and now you're saying that it is wrong. Which is it?

Proxies don't use a different URL to access the site. Proxies are one or more gateways or servers that you use to command what url to access and to relay that information back to your own computer so there is no direct connection between you and the target. the only thing that the target interprets differently through a proxy as compared to a normal direct connection is the IP address and thus the ISP. So basically, you can be in Antarctica and the target could recognize you as being from Hawaii or Kamchatka. I don't believe the government will initiate such a large hold on the ISPs, but rather come to an agreement with the search engines to restrict access to their countries.
