Thanks for telling me.Grow up guys, there are worse things than mainstream pop-punk bands that are catchy enough to make more money than you probably ever will..
mine are going to have to be
PS.. I don't want to name the same band twice so I'll do some honourable mentions
Hybrid Theory - Linkin Park It's the first cd I ever remember sitting down, listening to, and loving EVERY single minute of it from start to end. It's really what drove me towards music in the first place and set me on a very diverse musical taste...keep in mind I was 10 when I heard it.
The Clash - The Clash Ship London Calling all you want, I prefer this album...love London Calling aswell though.
...And out come the wolves - Rancid
Stranger than fiction - Bad Religion Cause I'm a 21st century digital boy...
Billy Talent - Billy Talent
Nevermind - Nirvana
honourable mention:
Any other Bad Religion, Nirvana, the clash, or Billy Talent Album
Meteora - Linkin Park, Watch Out - Alexisonfire, handful of green day albums, this is too hard....throw some NIN, the cure, Alkaline Trio and ramones in here.
Death Grip On Yesterday from Atreyu
With Teeth from Nine Inch Nails
Faso Latido from A Static Lullaby
Subliminal Verses from Slipknot
Celldweller by Celldweller
I also really like Reanimation from Linkin Park.
slayer /reign in blood
metallica /ride the lighting
nirvana/i forgot the album name.
korn/take a look in the mirror.
trivium/ ascendary or something like that.
I can really only think of one "perfect" album that I know of.
The Clash - London Calling
Props to the guy (with the sox avatar no less! WORLD CHAMPTIONS 08 BABY!) who already called this one.
However, four of my other favorite albums are...
Rancid - Life Won't Wait
I love ...Wolves too, but I think this one just combines the ska and reggae with the punk and just makes catchy, interesting songs. This is a great album.
Mighty Mighty Bosstones - Pay Attention
Deemed a flop by the critics as the follow-up to their "Breakout" album, Let's Face It, I think there is so much more to this cd. This album transcends "ska-core" music and is a solid rock and roll album from front to back with intelligent lyrics and an emotional delivery.
Sinner and Saints - The Sky is Falling
These guy were a local band from Boston that only put out one cd so I can't imagine anyone here has ever heard it, but this album is mind-blowingly awesome rock and roll. People have said that it sounds like a cross between Guns N' Roses and Blink 182, I don't necessarily hear that, but I think it sounds something like the best damn Social Distortion record ever created.
Ted Leo and the Pharmacists - Living With the Living
Most ted leo superfans won't agree with me on this choice, but I just love the breezy melodies and hooks of some of the songs on here, specifically "Who Do You Love?" and "Bottle of Buckie." The rest of the album is good too.
I read the rest of the thread and have to be honest that theres not too many albums I'm familar with, but I like the picks of Tool - Undertow, RATM (s/t), Offspring - Smash and Bad Religion - Stranger Than Fiction. So, there, I've said my piece.
The Wildhearts - Earth vs...
Therapy? - Troublegum
Manic Street Preachers - The Holy Bible
Metallica - ....And Justice for All
Sex Pistols - Never Mind the Bollocks...
