Your Top 5 Sci-Fi Films of All Time

my absolute favorite genre of film, so many classics to choose from. i know i'll probably get some slack for my top 5 seeing that i'm not a star trek or star wars fan but i can still respect those films for what they brought to the table...

my top 5 in order:

1. Blade Runner - blew my mind as a kid, never been the same since.

2. Alien - a science fiction masterpiece in every sense. great effects, acting, story, atmosphere, camera work etc....

3. The Matrix - the first one was amazing, the rest of them.....not so much.

4. 2001: A Space Odyssey - still stands up to this day, this film is undeniably kubrick at his best.

5. Dark City - didn't do great at the box office but if you haven't seen it you need to check it out. a very, very underappreciated film.

Blade Runner is an awesome flick. I liked Aliens a bit more than Alien...but they are both very cool as well. I'll have to think of the other 3...

The Matrix would be on that list, but that 2nd and 3rd movies just completely ruined everything about it for me.

It's difficult to choose a top five list. The criteria is a mixed bag - whether it's for strong writing/characters/direction or just for pure entertainment.

** Robocop.

** Demolition Man.

Robocop - honestly one of my favourite movies of all time. way more intelligent than it's given credit for, it also helps that it's **** hilarious

T2 Judgment Day - never, ever, gets old.

Star Trek: First Contact - best ST film by a long way

Dark City - underrated little gem, it's similarities with The Matrix are interesting, considering it came out a couple years earlier

Alien - I enjoy the whole series, but as a pure sci-fi film, the original's the best
