YouTubers unnecessarily censoring content to avoid demonetization

I like listening to true crime stories and I’m of the mind that in order to fully convey the shocking crimes that the language needs to be succinct, but also raw and unfiltered. Cursing like a sailor is one thing as it really doesn’t enrich the content (unless it’s a quote), but censoring words like “drugs”, “blood”, “abuse”, or “kill” is just unnecessary and I don’t think YouTube has a problem with those words in context.

Euphemisms to describe actions is also getting out of hand. I recently heard someone say while telling a true crime story, “He put his hands around her throat and squeezed until she stopped moving”. Come on…they aren’t going to demonetize you for saying “He choked her to death”.

The unnecessary censoring is becoming pathetic.

I agree, I saw a video that censored out many words, one of which was holocaust and I was wondering when did that become an unspeakable word.

Yeah one of the creators I watched started omitting the word 'news' from their news content because the YT algorithm finds it more favorable.

YouTube is such a shit platform, but it's currently too convenient. There really isn't a competitor at the same level. Twitch sucks too for other reasons. There are smaller platforms, but they don't have much going on yet.

Youtube went down the gutter already long time ago, tell me something new.

I am always a grumpy bastard as soon i log into any forum on the net, but that doesn´t mean i wouldn´t be o.k., i am in fact totally fine.

Now i could discuss and argue as to why i turned that way, but it has to do with the freedom-of-speech and how most forums on the net are DEAD when it comes to it...or those typical forum-hive-minds...etc. etc. etc.

And well, i hate youtube, it is one of those examples how a great site goes to shit as soon it has made enough money and still keeps growing to the point where owners just can´t get enough.

Oh and don´t get me even started with that youtube-community, did you ever read those comments they usually leave there? I mean...are they talking stupid like that for real or just on youtube?

Then the videos...oh...with those fake thumbnails, to make all the morons click it (including myself actually) just to find out the thumbnail is fake in order to attract clicks coz....well...3,000,000 clicks don´t seem enough already...etc. etc. etc.

I actually think it is amusing to see some YouTubers wait that 1 minute and as soon as the 60 seconds up drop that F-bomb or whatever. Some of the bigger ones have strong Patreon support go dropping swear words out the gate, good for them.
