Zac Efron can act!

I was shocked to find this out! I just watched this film and it is one of Richard Linklater's best next to before sunset. Put aside all doubts when it comes to Zac efron. I think he has just been given bad roles, and this may be the start of something new for him. Hopefully at least, no more crappy high school musical. He needs to evolve past that.

Cool. I was looking forward to see what would happen with this flick and Zac. I felt is was commendable that he took this job.

I think it is good zac is branching out. A lot of those disney actors are too comfortable being young and hip, that wont last forever. I think it is good that zac is trying something else. I'm sure most so called bad actors can do a good performance in the right role, heck look at Will Ferrell is Stranger than fiction, adam sandler is Reign over me, and Jean claude van damme in JCVD.

I also want to add that Christian McKay is fantastic as Orson welles. I know he wont get nominated, but it would be great if he was. Also Claire Danes is good, very underrated actress and she is quite cute:P

He just wants to play basketball, but his stupid dad won't let him.

Oh yeah she was. I also liked her in Stardust.

I wouldn't have expected Linklater to hire someone like that guy...

His best work out of the films I've seen of his was Dazed And Confused, and even if Efron may be able to act, he still can't sing for the life of him.

True...I saw him in this other movie, forgot what it's called but he portrayed an autistic person, which was a good performance.

rofl Stardust...I enjoyed that movie, but De Niro's performance is easily the best in the movie, simply because it was such a change.

I love these older actors now, theyre like "Sure, why not, I'll take the role" lol

Zac Effron has potential. He just needs to grow out of his teen star image and take on more serious roles in acting. Maybe this film could be a start for him.Nerd_Man

I hope he does. He may not be as good as other young actors like Emile Hirsch, Paul Dano, Joseph Gordon- Levitt, Jamie Bell, Jim Sturgess, Ben Whishaw, or Ben Foster, but he has some potential. I hope he doesnt continue to do high school musical movies, he needs to move on from that.
