Zombie apocalypse?

I bought a box set of the resident evil movies tday because all zombie movies kick ass and a zombie apocalypse is my favourite of all kinds of apocalypse that have been imagined to date. I was wondering if a zombie apocalypse would be possible and i figured that together on this forum we would be able to find evidence to suggest that, with a bit of genetic engineering, whether a T-virus/ rage virus type of virus or bacteria could ever be created. Im looking for solid evidence of any illnesses, viruses and parasites that can cause similar symptoms to the zombie viruses such as rabies causing dogs to go mad and all that. Any thoughts?

and just so that we are clear, I am not attempting to bring about any form of apocalypse as i dont have the knowledge nor indeed the intelligence required to do so Im just curious as to whether it would be worth developing a defense plan against a zombie attack.

I would like to refer you to my previous comment about not wanting to bring about an apocalyse :roll: and then i will say thank you for the advice i shall get down there now and make sure that it doesnt fall into the hands of any rain-protection based corporations.

I doubt you could get a zombie army going, When I say zombie I mean rotting flesh, coming back from the dead, that type of zombie.

The beauty of a zombie is that they all are different (In movies and books of course) Some run fast, some are walking cadavers, some arent even zombies really, just phsycho humans infected by some strange virus.

The best chance there would be of a zombocalypse would of course be a virus that turns humans crazy, I dont think animation of dead cells and whatnot is a very plausable scenario.

There's a book out there called "World War Z" and it's about the zombie apocalypse. I believe they're making it into a movie also. PlasmaBeam44

hmm thats quite true however it wouldnt really need to bring the cells back to life it would just need to find a way to make use of the nervous system and then be able to move the corpses muscles

thats a pretty bleak way of looking at it and besides wouldnt it be fun to try and survive zombocalypse? providing that you do survive that is.

As awesome as zombies are, there is no possibility we couldn't handle a zombie invasion.

One pair of jet aircraft can destroy an entire city in a one minute period with a nuclear payload, and it would only take one minute to take off from an aircraft carrier a hundred miles away, get to a location, destroy it, and be on their way back.

If we have that kind of technology with just a few fighter jets, a zombie invasion could be quelled easily. They can't even attack aircraft, and helicopters can lay down enough gunfire to kill thousands of people in a five minute period. Unless a buttload of powerful mutated monsters come with the zombies and the infection just spreads like wildfire, we could easily quell a zombie invasion.

And in theory, 28 Days/Eeeks later is completely possible.

i think i saw somewhere that there is this disease which kills skin cells or something and can cause skin to peel off and/or cause discoloration of skin.
