Is it possible to play a game on one person's Steam account but both of you logged on? Such as both on offline mode playing a LAN game? My friend told me he had World in Conflict, so I wanted to put it on both the computers and play LAN. I would think you could, but I am not sure since it's a newer game and maybe it will want seperate CD-keys even for LAN.

You have to be in offline mode, but you can log-in to multiple computers on the same steam account as long as account credentials are saved to the computer -- to enable offline mode for steam. If steam is running in offline mode, you can connect to the internet afterwards, but that's unnecessary for LAN. Directions: right click on steam tab -> go offline

** I know how to set offline mode. I wasn't sure with newer games though if it would have some authentication or something even for LAN.

I'm not completely sure as I've never played World in Conflict, but I know CS:S works in "offline LAN" mode.

Yes, that would be possible, but what you'd frequently find is that games are coded to check for a unique cd key for each player, and it'd stop you at that check.

World in Conflict works, I've done it before. In fact, I've done it with identical CD keys on multiple computers. I had to use the 'trial' CD for the disk check on one computer, but it still worked. However, it wasn't on steam, but I don't think that'll make much of a difference.

I don't think I have ever had Steam ask for for a CD-key, regardless if LAN or just playing alone.

I play Fallout 3 and everytime the game loads up it shows "this game requires a cd-key" and it has a box with my key in it. But if I just press shift tab it goes away.
