Which one should i buy for a top of the line rig ...1156 or 1136 mobo ...the 1156 is newer ...but i want the best

First of all do your have a limit for spending? Secondly what is it used for? Lastly do your really need the best?
However this what i tell you 1366 has 6 core coming out next year but 1156 heard the current ones are the top line not sure about this.
There pro and con for both so I think best is answer those three question would be what I think best for you. Cause sometimes ppl get 1366 just to show off and they used it for surfing the net.

1366 is capable of doing true 16x/16x SLI and triple channel DDR3 memory but it's more expensive.
If you want top of the line, 1366 is probably the way to go.

I always recommend AM3 or LGA 1366 socket if you can afford it. (AND I mean TRUELY afford it; you can get a good AM3 + 5870 PC with an $895.91 budget, but if you decided to get an i7 with that budget, you'd get a MUCH worse card)
I chose 1366 for three reasons:
1. I got an awesome deal on a 920
2. Upgrade path- the i9 hexa-core processor will be 1366
3. Crossfire/SLI

Agreed, they will release probably a lot more...but for example with their new 6 core coming out they have only mentioned 1366 being supported thus far, so if you want it for your 1156 you will probably have to wait quite a while.
I heard the i3 might be 1156, but thats not much of an upgrade.
do I go with 1366 or now stay 1156... I already have the Intel DP55KG Extreme Series P55 Motherboard that got very good reveiews ...but now i think i may have rushed i think i will sell for a x58 1366

furthermore there are many vendors that are launching the sata 3 and the usb 3.0 and this board does not have this feature ... should i just say f it and stay with what i have or get a 1366
Both sockets are great, the 1156 is cheaper thx to dual ram but the 1366 and the triple channel cost a bit more therefor you get better multi gpu support and thx to the lines. Triple channel ram gives you a total of 12 gig and the core i9 comes for 1366 socket only.

Sorry but the 1156 is for the mainstream. Intel has stated this several times.
I went with the 1366 finaly - and will be selling my intel p55 motherboard - also went with cpu : i7 950 its a bit older than the 960 but couldnt find the 960 in my country and i couldnt wait for it by mail ...stupid retailers here have the 920 and the 860 / and the i7 975 extreme that they sell for 1300 and is not worth it so any way thats that ...will be installing today- oh happy day - now the wait is on for the fermi ...
furthernote three rams are not cheap i got 3*2 gb corsair 1600 that are 200$
and i got a thermeltake cooler that looks awsome
will post pics after installation
now all I need is a blueray driver
posibly a new case as i have the cosmos 1000 and it has no side window
and fermi
