CPU Intel i5 4670K 229.99$

Motherboard ASUS Z87-PLUS 123.99$

GPU Sapphire Radeon 7950 3Gb 239.99$

Memory Corsair Vengeance 2x4Gb 74.99$

PSU Corsair TX650M 650W 109.99$

HDD Western Digital Blue 1TB 69.99$

SSD Samsung 840 Pro 128Gb 139.99$

Case Corsair Carbide Series 300R 89.99$

Monitor Dell UltraSharp U2312HM 23" Full HD IPS LED 199.99$

OS Windows 8 64-bit 99.99$

Ok so I am planning a new rig for Christmas :D so I have not included optical drive, mouse and keyboard as it is not necessary. So what do you guys think grand total of 1378.9$. Things may change if I can get a better GPU from the new series at the same price. Also if you can recommend better parts that are cheaper or as good as the current one I will drop as it is not necessary to spend all of the money. I don't live in the states so no rebate or free shipping have no importance, prices are about 30% higher here so I have taken that into account.

I would try and get shorter ram since it may cause issues with CPU coolers. Speaking of which, get a better CPU cooler.

Otherwise looks pretty good.

Well I don't wan't to overclock I will probably run stock cooler(for awhile) as it is very unnecessary. But maybe down the road I will get a all in one water cooling kit.About the memory I had them in my last rig and I could just plug them into the slots near the edge of the board.

Why are you gettiing a 4670k and Z87 board if you're not overclocking?

Because I plan to but not right away. I just don't plan to overclock now as the extra performance is really useless atm.

Before dropping the big bucks on an unlocked processor, carefully consider if you're going to overclock. There's no point in buying an unlocked processor if you won't overclock. They will offer the same performance as their "non-K" counterparts for 20-30 bucks less. Motherboard, same as before, Z87s are made for overclocking. If you're not going to overclock, you can get a cheaper motherboard. H87s will offer the same performance for a fraction of the price if you're not going to overclock. Regarding the GPU, AMD is going to announce their new GPUs in a couple of weeks. Either wait to get one of those, or wait anyways, because older GPUs are sure to take a price hit after the anouncement/release.

Overclocking an i5 at this very moment will considerably raise your minimum framerates in every modern game, thus making the visual part somewhat more stable. Witcher 2, Battlefield 3, Metro Last Light, Cryris 3, etc.

Then install the better heatsink now so you won't have to do it later (and possibly remove the whole montherboard depending on case). A better cooler will be quieter too.

Ugh.....the answer is NO, you do not need to overclock and further, with no overclock, the stock HSF will be just, fine.

Drop windows 8 and get windows 7 64-bit unless you plan on changing the monitor to a thouch screen.

I will admit that windows 8 works really well when you have a touch screen monitor i have tried it out and liked it alot. BUT that being said if you are using a mouse and keyboard it becomes pain in the ass real quick.

Tell me more. I see you are using windows 8. care to explain how its any better than windows 7? Is it because of Direct X11.2 or something? because other than that i see no good reason what so ever to get windows 8.

I would also like to add that games will be better supported on windows 7 as i have seen several developers say they dont like windows 8 and will be sticking with windows 7.

I would say for a gaming PC windows 7 is the way to go.
